CD > imported to HD > speed corrected (get it on CD 3.01) > re-edited to original running order (get it on CD 3.01) > converted to flac (CD Wave Editor 1.96.1)

This is one of the few bootlegs I ever really liked. The problem was, that the sound quality allways abused my ears, made me fear for my tweeters, and the imbecellic running order made me very nervous. First I tried to EQ it - but it never worked. Then I found it runs way too fast, so I slowed it down and suddenly the sound was really great (I made no record of what I did at the time, I think I also boosted the bass just a tiny little bit). After that I brought the songs into their original running order and burned it on CD - this CD being the best sounding inofficial FZ recording I own. The running order now seems to make sense - you could allmost call it an album! Now most of you will probably ask yourself: 'How can a self-respecting zappateer perform such a messwork on FZ's material?' but sorry - the mess has allready been done by king bisquit (i.e. censoring the 'any kind of lube will do, maybe from another part of you' section in Keep It Greasey) and all I did was trying to undo what they perpetrated. I do hereby solemnly swear that I would never do anything like this without necessity. So if you like this boot: download this version - and for the first time you will really enjoy listening to it!

It's possible FZ determined the running order. Some may like the resequenced once but IMO a seed of the original would also be nice. IIRC this is a better-sounding version than the others I've heard, which tended to have too much noticeable vinyl noise.

The promo I have sounds better then the 7-21-84 board, it's near perfect, though some vinyl noise may be present. One of these days I'll set up to grab another version from Vinyl->hard drive. I have a cassette. It's like Blood On The Canvas. Blackpage has 2 copies, both sealed, do i ask to break the seal? I think not. A first gen will have to do.

Thank you for this. I really like this show and it will be interesting to hear an old fave with a different running order.

Drew51, does that promo LP come without the annoying censor beeps? If yes, that would be a most welcome seed some day.

Thanks rumplestiltz - I have a vinyl boot called the King Biscuit Flower Hour that ran at the wrong speed - listened to it that way for years. I always wondered why what must be a very common show, never popped up here in a Pre-FM form. This looks like it will be an upgrade over the boot I have, but drew - if you're reading this, a copy of your original KBFH vinyl would be very welcomed by me.

Thanks for your efforts rumplestiltz.

Absolutely blistering guitar work. If you haven't heard this 'Pick me I'm clean' or the 'tiny lights' yet, well, just remedy that as soon as posible.
I can hardly sit still to type.

Thank you, Rumpelstilz!

Thanks rumpelstilz for re-arranging the tracks of this bootleg recording
to a much more sensible order.

This copy sounds excellent, and it sure is a great listening pleasure.

However, I'd like to give these few minor additional speed correction suggestions if you don't mind,
then it would sound perfect imho:

01 Chunga --> 04 COTL: +10cts
05 Pound For A Brown: +20cts
06 Cosmik Debris --> 08 Aint Got No Heart: +10cts
09 Love Of My Life: +15cts
10 Mudd Club: +20cts
11 The Meek --> 13 Illinois: +10cts

total time (after sc) 50.34 min

Anyway, thanks for bringing it much closer to the correct pitch level from what the orig. boot seems to have sounded like.
I wonder if at the orig. KBFH broadcast they had the tracks running as fast too.

I guess I am going against the tide here, but I liked the original order. Putting Mudd Club second made me pay attention to a song I usually ignore. And, IMO, rearranging the songs creates some segues as awkward as the original ones. (Love Of My Life -> Mudd Club? hmm )

And as I mention above, I think it is likely FZ chose the running order. I also don't think the missing passage in Keep It Greasey was censorship, more likely that there was a time slot FZ needed to trim the music to fit. Still, thanks for the remaster.

As far as the speed, I am also curious where the increase came in, since YAWYI came out around the same time and also ran fast much of the time.
