Well here's the next to the last volume vol. #17 and the info text:

Frank Zappa GSW Project Vol. 17 1976-1977 (T-1494)

This is Volume 17 in a very large collection of Frank Zappa spoken word releases. It's called the GSW Project.
GSW stands for Gigantic Spoken Word. There will be some music in there but there won't be any live concerts in the GSW Project.
They consist of radio interviews and journalist reporter type personal interviews. During the radio interviews sometimes music was
played as background or added before the broadcast in between questions and answers.

Sometimes FZ acts as D.J., plays records from his collection and talks to the radio audience.
But the main focus of this series is FZ interviews which to me is as interesting as his music.

Don't alter the sound of this recording. The T releases are not to be used as a source for anyones so called remastering projects.
If you want to do something find a better source recording and work from that. Don't just take what I have done and screw with it.

For Trade or Give Away only - Do not Sell - Do not encode as MP3 or any other format which degrades the quality of the recording.

Enjoy!

These have been great honyak45. I haven't posted a thanks in each of the seed threads with these (although that might be deserved). There are quite a few items in these series that were new to me so this has been a cool ride so far.

Thanks for taking the time to seed these here and to T for putting them together. Great stuff!
tunes cheers tunes

Kind regards,

I have a huge interview collection, and I could probably rival this one, w/o duplicating anything. But even in my collection, i didn't have some of these items, so i appreciate it. Some are also upgrades. I will at times upgrade some of these, all depends what tapes i pull out. I have a bunch I need to do, mostly short items for now. Also have some Alumni intereviews I want to post. Excellent insight what it was like to work for Frank.
Thanks again!

oh yes, same here. Many unique items I haven't had. Looks like this set ends somewhere in 1978. Another 18 volumes, covering the period from 1978 to end, is in order. My earlier comment about naming files was not meant to show lack of appreciation. We do need to compile and archive interviews, no question about it. This area of Zappology has been neglected and there's no comprehensive list of all available interviews, something to match FZShows. The GSW project could be a major step in this direction. Thanks for sharing.

T_____ has more volumes in the works for the GSW project as well as another separate project of interview material.I am eagerly awaiting any new volumes to add to these. As soon as I am able to, I see no reason why I can't share the new volumes here as well.
One more volume to go for now but I will be happy to come back with more when they are ready.

ENJOY!

great. Well then, why don't you two join us, at least for the time necessary to compile this project? See, my point is we too have a lot of valuable material to offer and work with. This is what drew is saying in this very thread. Working together, and sampling what we've got, we'd be able to compile a more exhaustive Interview Archive type project. Excuse my ignorance, but tell me this: why is it so important that none of the material in these 18 magnificent volumes should be altered in any way? I mean, if there is an interview that is not complete or not as good sounding as another version of it, then why not upgrade it? Perhaps the Hub and Zappateers are not compatible, and perhaps we're working according to two different paradigms, but please notice that here we have excellent collectors and scholars and experts who don't insist that whatever they put together stays the same way, and everything seeded is technically subject to upgrades. In this fashion, we are able to improve our little FZ archive every day, and this is what makes the project dynamic, interactive and international in character, and these are great values, aren't they, especially now in these difficult times of conflict.

It's not up to me what goes on with these. T___ puts that statement in every one of his releases and is serious about his work so I just respect that and enjoy what he offers.I haven't contributed any of the work that went into compiling these volumes and I didn't expect that they would be part of the zappateers archive,I only seeded them so that people could enjoy them like I do.If they were mine then I would have no problem with upgrading or changing them but they aren't mine and I stated clearly at the beginning of this that I asked for T___'s wishes to be respected. If they aren't respected and he sees what has happened i'm sure he won't be too happy with me.You could always start a project of your own of the same type to start organizing and archiving interview material like is done with shows. These are something T___ worked hard on for a long time and they will always be available in the hub for anyone who wants them.
I'm well aware of the great work and talent that is here at zappateers but like I said I had no part in making these ,I only own the hub and don't do any editing or mastering of recordings myself.T____ is an op in the hub and that is how I got to know him.He is the first person I went to when I started the hub project and has been a great source of information and also has given us many great releases like the GSW project. He is a complex man and very good at what he does so I don't question his decisions. And like I said if these were my releases then I would have a say in it and i'd be able to answer your question as to why its so important to keep them unchanged.
The hub is for the sharing of lossless format unofficial recordings basically and to meet new traders and collectors from around the world and be able to talk to them in "real time".You start a lot of great friendships this way.We don't collaborate and master and upgrade recordings like the skilled people here we only share and trade our music in the hub.We do have rules that are very strict as to what can be shared and what can't be shared though.Theres only one Zappateers and the people here are doing a fine job.T____ is a very busy person and really doesn't have any extra time for projects and collaborations outside of what he already has going on as far as I can tell.I wish I had the skills and resources required to join up with the people here but I just don't have what it takes to do this work.Believe me I wish I did because I would absolutely love to be a part of all this awesome work going on here.
So for now i'm just a lowly hub owner who enjoys collecting and trading Zappa music online and wishes he had started collecting back in the 70's like some of the guys have. Most of my Zappa collection has origintated here or from people in the hub.I had an extensive vinyl collection at one time which was stolen from me and only had my records backed up on mp3virus discs before I knew about lossless. So I have 112 official releases but in that lowest of life forms "the mp3 virus".

oh the mighty and majestic T-1494! Seriously, though, T___'s wishes are being respected all right. And the only reason I am asking my questions and expressing my wishes is that I am an inquisitive kind a cat. Meow.

1976-11-17 CHUM-FM Toronto Canada interview by Rick Moranis (cassette)

9. white paper pasted over cuts on FZ album
10. the sticker man explains / the Zappa band
11. radio station in Baltimore story / future plans

i like this segment - zappa argues with CHUM-FM because he went into for an interview and he noticed they had censored zoot allures - black napkins & torture never stops - there is a long dialogue between moranis and program director thats fairly heated - pretty funny

on track 11 zappa talks about trying to get a 68-69 girl group called the "shags" - 3 girl group - he said they were beyond captain beefheart - he wanted them to participate in the christmas shows of 1976

i wonder what the shags are all about??

This one looks great. In fact the whole GSW series does. Maybe some seeders will come to get this one active again.

UTorrent says it will be complete in 20 w(eeks)
