A big THANK YOU for this Lagz / unicrayon !!!

Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Wie treu sind deine Blaetter!
Du gruenst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
Nein, auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Wie treu sind deine Blaetter!

Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
Wie oft hat schon zur Winterszeit (oder Weihnachtszeit)
Ein Baum von dir mich hoch erfreut!
Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!

Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren:
Die Hoffnung und Bestaendigkeit
Gibt Mut und Kraft zu jeder Zeit!
Oh Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren!

By the way - there is a silver DVD on the "black market".

Recently - got a DVD-R copy from a friend of mine, the audio stream is also LPCM stereo.

Does anybody know something about this version ???

No, but we got here is master VHS, with 16 bit sound the best audio you can have on a DVD.
Probably stereo too, from the hi-fi track. So master video and audio from VHS, not bad, it can be beat with a direct transfer to hard drive, but that was very unlikely in 98.
Thanks!

...as far as I've heard;

"NICAM does not provide CD quality really, because it samples at 32 kHz / 12 bits instead of 44.1 kHz / 16 bits, and= uses lossy compression " (From Dathead's Digest)

Some networks even compress their signal more to get room for A2/M2 extra audiotracks (optional foreign languages/ overdub/ sports commentary). Some networks have compression all the time, for example to get more channels into one cable network.

A friend of mine still claims nicam/vhs stereo is just very high-end analog stereo, not digital. (I think he is wrong)

All in all, I just wanted to say it ain't "digital stereo cd-sound", but Pritteeee close.

Well unless you have the 3/4 inch master video tapes or 70 MM film, whatever they used....you ain't going to see better. Plus you have to ask what the station did in 98, not 2007.
Maybe one day the masters will appear in a commercial setting..Although the pop 2 1971 video is commercial and is a much worse format than this!
