Is this tape a fake? The quality is bad bad bad. I can only say bad bad bad. The mix, if we can name it a mix could also be done by a kid, but not by Mr. Zappa himself. This might be a soundboard, but could also be a bad "stage" recording or a mix of everything. This is never ever a original Zappa tape. Ok, i understand this tape is arround 30 years old and there myight be a loss of quality due to the years, but so much loss?

Would Zappa ever release such a bad quality recording without cleaning? I think he would never ever released such a bad recording because he never made it.

To me this is a fake. Don´t download it and download the audience recordings they are worth a download.

This person has clearly not listened to this seed, and clearly doesn't know what he or she is talking about.

The very best stage recording couldn't possibly sound like this. For example, it would be impossible to achieve the drum sound in these recordings with a stage mic. We're clearly hearing a directly mic'ed snare, kick, and toms. So, the "stage mic" theory is completely bogus.

It's equally dubious that these recordings came directly from the soundboard. Even on the best soundboard recordings, there are inevitably some instruments that are disproportionally loud or soft in the mix, vocals that start low in the mix and end up louder as the live mix engineer adjusts the levels, and so on. The recordings in this seed don't bear any of those stamps, even if the mixes aren't exactly perfect. Even disregarding this, it's hard to believe that there are individuals in possession of all these soundboards that aren't in circulation...and who have the spare time to make meticulously edited "fake" albums.

I don't know what this person's motivation is, but I hope that it doesn't discourage anybody from downloading this seed. This is a very good sounding recording of some of Frank's best material from some of his best shows. What more can you possibly ask for?

Thanks Yojimbo for all your efforts cheers
I didn't hear this one in this form for many years: it's very very tasty and also an upgrade for me!

Each of those segments is continuous and ends with a fadeout, and each totals around 19 minutes.

That's not too unusual. I have a few similar items. Motorpsycho's "Timothy's Monster" is 5-sided, and the vinyl-version of "Läther" (Ryko) is 9-sided.

That's true; it's just that Frank never released a blank LP side. (Frank's original LP version of "Läther" was 8-sided, as reflected by the test pressings that escaped.) This makes me think that Frank was still tinkering with the project when these test pressings (or whatever) were made.

At any rate, as they say on the TeeVee, it's all good, Jerry!
