Yes it's like Bengo said: easy! It's fun to listen to and good for (my) ratios too!

if i only would have more time i would start a table containg all interviews with a short description what their contents is, like JN's FZShows, or RCA's (form. PN's) FZVideos or DF's (form. JW's) Zappa Patio.

i know about GC's transscriptions of interviews but its far away from completeness, its a hell of a job. maybe a huge community like our forum members can achieve this?

Thank you, NWIU2B!
And I agree with Walk. It would be nice to set up some sort of reference index for interviews, press conferences & radio programs through an organized teamwork.

(... and what about interviews-reviews-features in the press? I don't mean a reference catalogue: that would be a mammoth task, but are there any copyrights issues regarding the seeding of scans from major newspapers/magazine features?)

I've been thinking exactly the same thing for a long time. Transcribe all interviews and put them in a database and thereby being able to search for any given topic. Such a database wouldn't be too complicated to design, would it? Also, it's a lot easier to understand written text than by listening to somebody speak it, especially if English isn't your first language.

Do you have a link to GC's transcriptions?

the db is not the problem, but putting together all informations is, even if we start with just listing all known interviews with a short description. transcripting is another step.

a good start would be just to add every interview which is seeded here.

If 20 zappateer folks gang up and start transcribing I'm sure that that part is easily accomplished. A good typist takes down an hour's speech in around two hours. There is a limited amount of interviews and there's is no deadline, so if anyone feels inclined to take command of project like this, I'd love to be part of it. It's a labour of love. Smile

I for sure prefer to listen, transcribing sounds foolish to me... but a database is of course a good idea Wink

Thanks, Notwhatitusedto. Nice up. I think this is pre-1973, though. From the sound of FZ's voice (to say nothing of subject matter and "background music") it sounds to be prior to the Dec. '71 Rainbow show where FZ sustained the throat injury that lowered the pitch of his voice a third. sage
