First my connection is as slow to come out as a 21st Century Zappa release! OK, not that slow. Please be patient. I don't have much bandwidth, but I wanted to get this out, took so long...
Notwhatitused2b put out a 2nd gen of this source. Excellent job with that one, very little difference. Considering different transfer methods and all, I would not be quick to discard it. This example does have fills and is complete.
This was a great 3 show run in Royal Oak. Each night it just get's better. Working on the other two nights shortly. I'm very slow to do this, so can't say when the others will be ready. Enjoy this for now.

Many, many thanks, drew51!!! The next night (2-27) is one of my favorites from the American leg. I'm very much looking forward to the 1st gen copy of that show.

I have two masters to work with for 2-27-88 and three sources for 2-28-88. a first gen, Master>?>CDR And a master transfer. Only one is transferred at this point. Need to compare, fill etc. I wish I had this master, but i don't. So first gen will have to do. I was at all three shows, what a great run. Set two is cool here, with good solos, some band member solos, and a world premiere. The 27th with unique only performed once versions, can't get better than that!
I have masters also, but only the 27th is of possible use. These other sources are better.
I also have 2 masters each of the three 84 Michigan shows. My set I recorded and a good friend let me borrow his master tapes to transfer. They are stored as raw dumps for the moment.
Copies out there from these shows are from my masters, not that good (84), the borrowed masters may be better I know the meadowbrook show is better but incomplete, so that will be a combo of two masters. I know other Detroit shows are out there being held, at least one still. I have no access to it. Look how long for Flint to surface..so still hoping.
My first Zappa show was at Cobo in 1973, I would kill for a copy! All the other Zappa shows I attended I have copies of, but not this first show...Mahavishnu opened, they were killer too.

It sounds as if we are/were neighbors at one point Smile I am looking forward to hearing the shows you are seeding, and reliving some good Zappa michigan concert memories. I would love to hear the show from 28 Sep 1978, Cobo Hall, Detroit, Mi - I had nearly front row seats for that show, and it stands firm in my memory, especially the lineup of Adrian Belew, Patrick O'Hearn, Terry Bozzio, Ed Mann, Tommy Mars and Peter Wolf. Thanks again.

Tks a lot drew(and all the others that made this possible, except FZ & the band 'cause they have auto-thankyou here)

your appearance here,to me,is a sign of evolution in this 'community'. new(i suppose) members with 'new' stuff.

maybe one day will have those millions of reels(that appear on documentaries) translated to bits & bytes.

...and my PhD in FZ always increasing.

Vernon Fitch recorded that show. He is well known, or was in Pink Floyd Circles. I met him once. Got the tape from him. He now lives in Florida. It's the poor one that has made the rounds. Probably from my copy. I also was at that show. I will transfer 1st gen cassette one day, but it is so poor, it's way down on the list. Was Adrian still with Frank in 78? Thinking of 77? That year (77) i missed the shows. Don't have any connections to the 77 Michigan shows that have surfaced either.
Yes, Michigan is well represented here, they're lurkers too Smile

I did do a comparison, and it's close. I think some of the common flaws in tapes, like drop outs and artifact when the deck is turned on are amplified on further gens. I think this is evident here. Otherwise, damn close, and some might prefer WIU2B's copy. For sure the same source, and for sure a 2nd gen. Also for sure is the great transfer WIU2B did! I can confirm that! So this is good to know. He does a great job! Excellent! As for 2-27-88 I have not compared to this 2nd master I have. My master is flawed as the deck was breaking down, and it stopped for microseconds, here and there.
It is the common copy everybody has. I never have heard of another master till recently.
I'm hoping this 2nd master which probably has not been heard by anybody here is better. But I have a feeling it is not. More on this when the time comes.
Also thank you guys, man a great place, and all. I wanted to start something like this, glad I didn't, as this is better.
