As this torrent contains serious errors, it's been removed from the tracker, watch out for a fixed version!

Frank Zappa
October 31st, 1978
The Palladium
New York City, NY .........The Big One

Well here we are again, Frank's favourite holiday time ...AKA Halloween.

Last time I put this one up was 2018 04 19 with a great deal of interest.

Since then our very own "Magic Fingers" ...AKA Flambay has been requested a few times too take a look/listen and do what he always does and improve on it, with particular attention to the pitch errors.

As a result of that you have what you are about to listen to now. this has been overdue and I am more than grateful of Flambays work on improving it.

Because of what I already stated regarding this show here is a repeat of my previous remarks with the updated remarks by "Flambay". And YES perfect timing, post has just arrived and the official 73 Hallloween box has just arrived [grandkids will love that] Smile Smile

"This show being "The Big One" caught all the people who recorded this one out. Even this recording.
Hence all the tape cuts at so many different places.
This was a very hard show to do.

There are so many delights, but most of all is the sound of the percussion/drums and it's quality [Pound for A Brown/Little House] , astonishing and an absolute delight for me. The recording of the Percussion & Drums sound is something else, a brief conversation with Guy via TPS explained why. Guy set up the JVC recorder directly behind Vinnie backstage, that explains it all. The channels [left & right] are flipped because of set up. However I have not corrected this issue, my thought being "it is what it is". Of course if someone wishes to do that adjustment for themselves then be my guest. Also great to fill in that missing fade out of "Pound For A Brown" [almost a minute]
You add the above to "Zappa Penguins" comments on the obvious tracks [Thirteen, Little House, Packard, Black Napkins/Deathless & Watermelon] and you have THE show to get.

Thanks to our [zappateers] collection we can do our best to get this out to you in as best/complete as possible.
As a result of that I have used many parts of the other versions we have to make the show complete [done my best to itemise every cut & paste ].The many parts are mostly [BengoFury~KCDiscipline~fl~ZP] but amongst that version [my absolute favourite up to this finding] there are many additions that were used.
I have pitch corrected to the best of my ability, but with all the obvious cuts and added parts some errors may have occurred & that will explain the approx. time differential from the other version.[BengoFury~KCDiscipline~fl~ZP] [231m41s as opposed to 230m28s]. Of course there is the missing Pound for A Brown addition of 52sec.

Pretty sure parts of the multitracks have been cut out and lost so it would be difficult (maybe impossible) for Joe to release the show. Although I'd be glad to be wrong about that.

Thanks for the reworked version of this recording.

That is definitely the case, though Joe has indicated that there are 4-tracks, 2-tracks and cassettes of the full run - so it wouldn't be impossible to reconstruct everything. They've sort of been doing that for a while now anyway with releases like Chicago 78 and Buffalo.

I'm sure that is the case with a lot of FZ stuff (and i certainly hope so).

edit: is it just on my end or are the files corrupted?

I don't want to "pass off my delusions as fact", you know.

most of the files don't play and the ffp file is wrong (different naming scheme)

i rechecked the files in my torrent program and they come up as 100% so clearly there's a problem here.

Hmm... Most open ok here but I did get this on a few tracks.... Could it be the old ''too long filename'' problem..?
