I work at a place that also staffs young people in college. A few young ladies work there, and when they get to chatting, inevitably they start going "ohmygaaawd" about something. It never fails.

Do I have Frank to thank for this?

I think you have valley girls, in general, to thank for that...

A lot of millennial people talk this way because of poor education.

They also OVERUSE the word like because they have no real social skills. Look at the newly elected empty headed Member of the U.S. House of Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, She is dumber than a box of hammers and talks like a 14 year old girl.

I've also noticed "literally" getting overused and abused in the vernacular of our great nation's youth.

And what's the deal with lopping off the end of words nowadays? "Conversation" becomes "convo". "Random person" becomes "rando".

And what's the deal with starting sentences with "and"? (oops)

And if the way the kids today are talking pisses me off this much at my age of 46, am I doomed to become even more of a curmudgeon when I am 56 and 66?

Will listening to FZ help alleviate this condition?

So many questions....

You know what else they do? Use an apostrophe "s" when they make a word plural.

Or split a compound word into two separate words.

I am bad speller, you grammar Nazi. "Millennials" with the s on the end is actually not even a word.

I fixed it. Happy now, fruitstick?

Says who? If "millenial" is a noun, are you saying it has no plural? [This is a rhetorical question. Please don't answer. And yes I know that "millenial" was originally an adjective.]

I'm happy any time that you get riled up, jpf. I love to see how you can dish it out but can't take it in.

Wait, aren't you the one who liked the Playground Psychotics forum?

Also your point about millenials and the trend of overusing "like" -- you do realize that in Moon's impression in "Valley Girl", released in 1982, about every other word is "like", right? So I'd say the trend predates millenials, my friend.

I hope that pisses you off too.

Really, I just found irony in your original post -- bitching about how young people have poor education, yet it was fraught with tell-tale signs of a poor education. That was pretty funny. I mean, who else you going to blame for the fact you're a "bad speller", as you say?

Lighten up.

Wanna play the grammar Nazi game? LEARN TO SPELL.

Says who? I use Firefox and it underlines the word "millennials" as a misspelling.

Eat chain!

As our greatest ever Prez would say 'so dumb'

In the 2018 midterm elections, the Democrats won control of the House and had a net gain of 41 seats from their total after the 2016 elections (including one seat gained previously with Conor Lamb's March 2018 special election victory). This was their largest gain of seats since the 1974 elections, when they picked up 49 seats.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez[pron 1] (born October 13, 1989) is an American politician, activist, and community organizer.[2][3] A member of the Democratic Party, she has been the U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district since January 3, 2019.

On June 26, 2018, Ocasio-Cortez won the Democratic Party's primary election in New York's 14th congressional district covering parts of the Bronx and Queens in New York City, defeating the incumbent Congressman, Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley, in the biggest upset victory in the 2018 midterm election primaries.[9] Ocasio-Cortez is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.[10]

Before running for Congress, Ocasio-Cortez was a community organizer working in the Bronx and serving as an educational director for the 2017 Northeast Collegiate World Series for the National Hispanic Institute. At the age of 29, she is the youngest woman to serve in Congress in the history of the United States

Ocasio-Cortez attended Yorktown High School, graduating in 2007,[16] where she won second prize in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair with a microbiology research project on the effect of antioxidants on C. elegans' lifespan.[17] As a result, the International Astronomical Union named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez.[18][19] In high school, she took part in the National Hispanic Institute's Lorenzo de Zavala (LDZ) Youth Legislative Session. She later became the LDZ Secretary of State while she attended Boston University. Ocasio-Cortez had a John F. Lopez Fellowship.[20] In 2008, while Ocasio-Cortez was a sophomore at Boston University, her father died of lung cancer.[21][22] During college, she was an intern in the immigration office of U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy.[23] She graduated cum laude from Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in international relations and a minor in economics..

but hey who cares about facts when you can be rude and insulting as the millennials (that's how its spelt just try using this thing called spell checker) would say YAY!
