X-Mess special for me then...

...OR we could make up the "Zappateers All-Star Band" and get artist wristbands - who is playing kazoo? Smile

Koel. I'll be there.
With or without kazoo. Or cow bell. Or coloured suit.

Ok, bazbo is going to sing a 'stripped' version of "With Or Without Kazoo" by U2orNot.

Otherwise:

Zappamaniac can play.

hoops can drum.

stv can sing.

Ob only knows the lyrics to "Bobby Brown" but we'll make that work.

Does billytm still know his Pachuco falsetto?

I can only conduct, sorry. But I might play cowbell during bazbo's performance.

Koel. Count me in.
I'm sure Billy and I still can do a decent Flo&Eddie version of Dog Breath Variations: 'Aya-yaya-yaya-yay!

(1) When it says on the Zappanale website that camping is included in the ticket price, which is very cool I think - in the spirit of the festival - what about a couple staying in one camper van needing only one camping site? Do you both still have to pay full price? I'm not trying to make an issue here, just trying to get all the information. We're happy to pay whatever it costs.

(2) Obviously the whole thing is not yet fully organised, but based on the usual format, will there be extra days available in the campsite other than the 19th to the 21st and if so, is there an extra charge for those days?

(3) As we will be literally living out of a camper van for five weeks, with Zappanale at the end of week two, there will be no other vehicle. If we park up on a plot in the camp site, and during our stay go off for drives, could we lose our spot while we're art [sic]?

Yes, even those that book into hotels in Bad Doberan have to pay for free camping.

See http://zappanale.de/en/festival.html

You could try marking your plot with poles and tape, but it is probably still a possibility, especially on the Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday when most campers are arriving.
Alternatively, the Molly (a steam train) stops near camp for trips, or perhaps rent a couple of bicycles?

No worries, two Xmas specials coming up.

BTW, is paying for free camping a deliberate oxymoron?

I had guessed from checking out previous Zappanales that we could arrive early. I had already read the page you linked, but there were no actual days listed, that I could find. I can see that the main event is Friday, Saturday and Sunday - the 19th to the 21st of July - but I can't find any actual program. I assume that's due to the fact that it's still more than six months away.

Bikes are an optional extra on our camper van rental which we're considering going for.

Yes, the program is not likely to be finalised for a while yet. But the structure will remain the same;
Wed: A linked event in a church in Hamburg. About 2 hours drive from camp! Some Zappateers will already be arriving in camp/Bad Doberan.

Thu: A warm up show in Bad Doberan. Usually mostly artists from the main program or collaborations.
Fri-Sun: The festival on site & an exhibition and acoustic performances in Bad Doberan.

Make sure to meet up with lots of Zappateers and visit the Zappateers party tent!

Any advice from anyone here with either camper van ownership or hire experience in Europe would be welcome. We have to hire of course, flying to Paris from Adelaide. We'll be picking up from and dropping off to, Charles de Gaul Airport. We've already investigated several models here in Australia and also researched a few European hire companies, but it's generally hard to get good detailed information about the camper vans they have.

We'd only require sleeping for two, but need two extra seat belts in the back. It must have a good quality cassette type toilet, a shower, a fridge and cooking facilities and some solar power would be good too. We don't want one of those huge RV models, where you need a special license to drive it. We'll be getting out and about aplenty between drives, so will have more than enough opportunity to stretch our legs.

Maybe you should contact directly some of these companies and ask them, I suppose they work in Australia as well. Hertz, Avis and Europcar are maybe the most popular, Sixt is another one.
