Frank Zappa

Circus Krone
Munich, Germany

"We Don't Mess Around"

1978 09 08

----------------------------------------------

I got a new discovered masterclone Super-VHS cassette recording from our Zappateer member "Bernhard"
late last year at our tiny little private Zappateers Meeting. Then, I digitized these with a Panasonic Super-VHS recorder
and a Panasonic DVD recorder via S-Video connection. I recorded the sound simultaneously in 16 Bit / 44.1 kHz WAV
with an external audio device.

As recorded in Super-VHS, the picture has far more details and grit than any previous versions we have here,
including the video part from the version of user "RoryGallagher". I saved the project in the MKV container
format with chapters. This format is universally usable, as you can play it on all devices - so, who needs a DVD menu today?

Of course, this version also has some flaws, which can never be completely avoided when digitizing VHS material.
Despite repeated attempts to play the VHS tape as error free as possible during digitization.

In terms of video quality, for this movie I think it should be the best that is currently available.

Thanks for this. The version of Why Does It Hurt When I Pee is great on this. It's all great especially Conehead and the shot of FZ's pedal board right before he starts his solo.

Well observed Rob, because this movie section only takes ~ 2 seconds.

Unfortunately, the basic resolution of the TV broadcast (or movie itself) is not good enough to see what exactly is on the small labels of his effect pedal devices. Laughing

Regardless of what it says on the labels on the multitude of effect pedals, it's amazing to know that FZ was able to keep track of all them!!!
Glad I could be the the first one to say thanks too. Can't wait to watch is again for the 1000+ time!

Of course, you are right.

I just thought it would be interesting to see what he was "really" using that time. Wink

yes I remember well this pedal board too although this shot is very short...
I was impressed...

I like so much the guitar tone and effect of the "Conehead" solo - especially this arrangement (over the 77 shows). That 1978 guitar tone is unique.

Regarding the "Why Does It Hurt When I Pee"... guitar solo- it sounds as if Zappa is playing an epic guitar solo a-la Stairway To Heaven...
