JWB's notes from 2014:
"Here's something I made for my own enjoyment that I thought I would take a chance and share here.
It's a compilation of outtakes from Frank's entire career, taken from the zappateers tracker, but carefully
remastered for optimum sound. A lot of work went into cleaning up vinyl noise and fixing bad EQ and so forth.
I had to make up song titles for some of the songs because there wasn't any. This is not meant to be a
"replacement" for anything...just a fun liberated boot that you don't have to pay for. Enjoy!"

My guess is same recording. I remember there was a discussion of whether it was best described as a Sheik or Zoot outtake.

Yes, that's correct! Sorry, "re-named" is a better description. Wink

The official track that was replaced is:
"13 What's The Name Of Your Group?" [3:00]

The replacement is:
"13 Revised Music Excerpt" [1:39]

wow! I didn't expect this at all imslow ... thank you ! thank you!

I'll tell you, I will keep the original set (the artwork was great - better artwork you wrote, but the original one was already soooo good!). It's one of my favorite Zappa non-official collection of cookies now... (I've always been such a fan of Passacaglia)
ok, I've just looked at the back artwork : I really love this new photo ! this back photo with Zappa, his guitar in his musical kitchen room is brilliant- sounds like a will reprint it with some classy matte paper and with vinyl-like CDR... thank you thank you!!!

Why not a Scrapings The Vault vol.2 ? imslow There's some amazing stuff which have been there : for instance the amazing extended 12" of "200 years old"... ?

apparently there's no more birthday bundles anymore (the lossy one)- instead we have a complete CD or even a box set (judging by the quality of the material on the amazing last 1972 official release (Little Dots- what amazing last live James Bondesque track!!!) and the Apostrophe "'" sessions - I won't complain about this musical material (I love CDs) flood...)

I don't understand why the Mike Douglas show version of Black Napkins with full orchestra hasn't been released officially in one of their zappa aaafnraa birthday bundle...
Mind you, I've never heard the orchestra-live version of Black Napkins with a A or A+ sound quality...
as far as I can tell it has not been released officially on DVD...
But I really like your version of "Black Napkins"

The Mike Douglas "Black Napkins" was officially released as a bonus on the "A Token Of His Extreme" DVD in perfect quality.

That's why you won't find it here.

sorry I didn't know it was released... I have only the CD of "A Token Of His Extreme" not the video... because when the DVD came out I was moving and could use a TV set... Then probably after, I forgot this DVD because something else amazing came out... In fact, I probably bought one before the official DVD but that was not the Zappa dot com approved edition, thus without the Mike Douglas bonus footage...
oh, and I have on my shelves The Dub Room Special... I guess I didn't realized that both contains different material and edit...

is it a complete video or just audio (during the ending credits for instance) ?

by the way, JWB I really like your "vintage" logo... This is the first time that I see this logo.
It looks to me like a nice combination of the legendary Vigotone label logo (John Lennon, Beatles...) and the cute Yellow Dog logo (another legendary label for Beatles fans...)
Did you make some other CDs (any bands/artists) with this new logo ?

thanks a lot for the answer (and sorry for the long aparté mes amis Embarassed ) - I just have to make sure that I'm ordering at amazon the zappa dot com official DVD and not the previous DVDs which were "semi-bootlegs" (which means in the end bootlegs). I think that there's no PAL version, all release will be NTSC.
