Restored Audio Version!

This show is simply too good!

As you may know, all known recordings have the same annoying “recording noise interferences” –
not to confound with “FM noise interferences”.

Interferences, recorded by the origin radio station, or whoever recorded this concert.

The goal here was, of course, to eliminate all those “recording noise interferences”, and leave in
the “real background noise”, like stage feedback, stage hum, switch or plug-in noise and simply
everything that was produced live.

The son of: 'tis the season to be JELLY - again!

Frank Zappa & MOI

Konserthuset
Stockholm, Sweden

1967 09 30

~~ from FM MC tape transfer ~~

Transferred by: jazzfromhell

Complete, with patches of a MrUMRK LP transfer and a BengoFury FM tape

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current FZshows entry:

1967 09 30 - Konserthuset, Stockholm, Sweden
40 min, FM, A-
intro, You Didn't Try To Call Me, Petrushka, Bristol Stomp, Baby Love, Big Leg Emma,
No Matter What You Do (incl. Tchaikovsky's 6th), Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog, Gee,
King Kong, It Can't Happen Here

This copy: 39.19 min, MC, A+

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About this "new" recording source:

Recorded 1985 01 15, from a program called "Rock från underjorden".
Original program intro, moderator and outro were edited out for this release.

Sadly, we have the moderator's voice-over on the last minute of the show -
to fix that, I patched the last minute with BengoFury's FM source.

To make this show complete, I added the 57 secs Zappa talking intro, ripped from
the Petrouska LP bootleg. For some reason this 57 secs with zappa talking at the very
beginning of the show are not available on other known recordings - but only on
this Petrouska LP bootleg.

------------------------------

Restored version:

As you may know, all known recordings have the same annoying “recording noise interferences” –
not to confound with “FM noise interferences”.

Interferences, recorded by the origin radio station, or whoever recorded this concert.

The goal here was, of course, to eliminate all those “recording noise interferences”, and leave in
the “real background noise”, like stage feedback, stage hum, switch or plug-in noise and simply
everything that was produced live.

Beside the elimination of several annoying “recording noise interferences”, here are the most
significant restoring points:

01 Introduction by Frank Zappa
Eliminated distortions from position 01:28 – 01:51
For the first time ever, we can listen to this 23 seconds in a reasonably but undistorted quality!
There’s some audible reverb just on this section, but this reverb is on the unfiltered original
section too.

02 You Didn't Try To Call Me
Directly after/in the starting guitar beat, an annoying “recording noise thumb” eliminated, volume
variations adjusted, now it sounds “enjoyable”. BTW, there's still a single audience clap
within this first guitar beat.

11 King Kong
The "unlistenable" 3 seconds from position 13:13 – 13:16 were completely “rebuild”.
Several annoying “recording noise interferences” within the improvisation part were eliminated.

Simply because this version was a new project idea - afterwards.

Um, but seriously, what's your problem about this?

"Upgrade" - ever heard of one? Wink

Okay.

I didn't understand if this was meant to replace that one or if last week's version was meant to be a raw alternative that might be preferred by purists.

Um, really, what's your problem?

My real problem is that I probably won't hear the difference between this one, last week's, the previous one, and the BTB version. But since it's from 1967 I'll grab it anyway.

Oh, and thank you.

Yes, afterwards - I would say the last week's version is now addressed more to purists.
