Hi,

I've two decks and try to figure out which one creates the better result. May I ask for your opinion?
The attached files are from an old tape which I recorded long time ago a different deck (no FZ content here).

Thanks for your help.

FWIW I can hear no significant difference on my 'kitchen' system. It is , however, 'the morning after the night before' and I haven't performed a system diagnostic to see if I'm still functioning properly. If I ever a)fully sober up (*not really an 'if' since I will be taking a much needed break starting on the second of january)and b)get round to re-installing the 'big' system in the big room now my Dad's died and we've got the room back I'll let you know. (It will happen. Just don't hold your breath).

For me both sound very similar too. That made me curious and the following frequency analysis reveals that example 1 has a minimal emphasis on the higher frequencies while example 2 appears to be slightly more "rounded" in the bass department.

I was surprized by the close results myself. Both no special decks. I'll go with #1 a Denon. I think it sounds a bit clearer and is almost unused. The other one is an Onkyo but it has some pulsing noise floating through from the mechanical pieces.

Thanks for the response!

Now I need to learn the SW and then I seed the 1988 05 25 Mannheim soundcheck.
