I haven´t seen mentioned that FZ was enrolled in Claremont High School in 1959. Maybe it was only for a short time during Winter ´58-´59 meanwhile in Spring ´59 was known for his six week period at Chaffey Junior College.

Here´s the proof, with the Orchestra, and Dick Barber too:

Hmm. He's supposed to have graduated from AVJUHS by then.

Does he appear anywhere in the yearbook besides the orchestra? Maybe he just snuck into the high school orchestra like he snuck into the college radio station and music class.

It looks like the orchestra was pretty desperate for musicians—willing to take saxophones, accordions, and an unenrolled percussionist.

No, he doesn´t. Maybe he was there only for some music class as later some weeks at Chaffey.

As far as I know, FZ was officially enrolled at Chaffey College (until he dropped out). If he had already graduated from one high school, he wouldn't have been able to enroll at another high school—and I doubt he would have wanted to. But an orchestra leader looking for musicians (Mr. Denes) might have allowed him to play even though he wasn't enrolled.

The parallels I had in mind were Karl Kohn's class and KSPC-FM, both at Pomona College in Claremont. Professor Kohn knew that FZ wasn't enrolled, but the station management apparently didn't.
