I... like it. Not crazy about it, but it's historically important. Parts of it are very nice, others aren't so nice and overall it makes a pretty listen. My favorite track must be "Roland's Big Event/Strat Vindaloo"

cheers

Yes historically important indeed. I think its the type of album that FZ made more for himself rather than for an audience or a market. And I imagine the Varese project was the same.

Strat Vindaloo has such a cool guitar tone. Not a rock overkill tone. I love it. cooler

GZ has said Spence Chrislu made it from build reels, not FZ.

And I love it dearly.

When I'm in the mood for it I put it on and find it relaxing and enjoyable. The other day when I woke up I went out there on the rock for a while...and just chilled out meditating and drinking coffee. Then I took a shit had a shower and shave and got on with my day.

I think it's a great listen and actually listen to it in it's entirety more then Yellow Shark.
Didn't Gail say that after they put out this disc, they found a tape from these sessions that Frank had actually put together himself?

Gave EIHN a listen last night, realized I have listened to it waaaay more than memory serves. I think because it is the most 'ambient,' soothing Zappa album in existence. Dreamlike, for the most part....

Dreamlike? You've hit the nail on the head! It really transports you away. A sum greater than its parts. Transcending its parts. The only other time that happens for me with FZ sometimes is his guitar solos / compositions and even then in a different way. Its like FZ without the cynicism. Without the defensiveness. Pure musical FZ? hmm Laughing

My God- "Nap Time" is beautiful. I'm hearing it on YouTube.
I've never heard this album. I'm going to order it.

Enjoy it my friend! I would say its Zappa where heart and soul is dominant and the mind is not overtaking the music too much. imslow
