You can also get the "Big Leg Emma" 45 from last year's Record Store Day II: Black Friday Boogaloo direct from Barfko-Swill, as well.

Gail writes that what we are getting is what FZ presented to the band on Easter 1969. So definitely not a remix. But very probably a remaster, I would guess. Curious how this is now in the ZFT's control as it has seemed to be owned by Warner Bros for decades. But I really don't know anything about that.

Was this ever out of print? Just asking...

Edit: This answers my question. I just find it odd because I got a real cheap copy on eBay not so long ago (2 or 3 years?).

Fair enough, that would seem the guess to make then. Cool I'm also curious on the rights backdrop, too.

As far as I know it has been in print from 1969 up until very recently, past year maybe. I'm astounded that this thing is back under the ZFT's control. Totally Amazed. Amazed enough to blindly order it. I ain't sittin' on the sidelines for Trout Mask.

This has been under their control for ages. Gail already wrote that she was planning to do "something" with it a couple of years back.

Ages? It was issued by Warner's for over 40 years. The record receives the Library of Congress honor, Don Van Vliet passes away, the record suddenly goes out of print, maybe for the first time. I guess we will never know the details on how the ZFT managed to wrangle this one back. It's a very premature pre-order due to the Easter tie-in, but I don't doubt for a minute that it will be re-mastered from the master tapes. Who knows what is in store? Road Tapes Vol 1 wasn't even initially announced as a double. Outside of selfishness, it is good to know the record will be back.

Well ok, maybe not ages, but Gail already spoke about it in early 2012: http://radiodupree.blogspot.nl/2012/01/gail-z-promises-to-revisit-trout-mask.html

Surprised they are not also reissuing the Grow Fins box set. Which was a bit of a rip off which would work perfectly for Gail Z.
