Wow. Excellent overall sound here. My tape says sbd/aud mix on it. I'm not positive about that,
but this is such a great sounding tape it may be possible. A nearly perfect mix of all instruments & voice. One of the best sounding tapes from the whole tour. This show has been bootlegged and released on cd. This is NOT that source, this is a low gen tape source from my collection. I have never heard the bootleg cd, but I do not think it would sound any/much better than this !

A very vocal and excited crowd. A few notes . . the bass solo cuts in, I'm thinking just a tiny bit is missing here. The opening Bass Solo is not the usual " Hair Pie ". This one is pretty far out ! A little bit of harmonica is played during " Hot Head ". There is a short drop-out during " Best Batch Yet ". There is a tape flip after " Doctor Dark " resulting in a bit of " Bat Chain Puler " being chopped off the top. Very cool version of " Dropout Boogie " here. Also, a pretty sweet " Veteran's Day Poppy " . . instead of the usual band introductions that happens over the ending vamp here we get a nice long horn solo from the Capt'n ! It's a good one. Enjoy.

upped at dimeadozen on September 06, 2010.

Nice. Thank you. Can't wait to hear this one.

The show is about to begin, but don't let it bother you.

You're welcome. No problem at all! If you are ever looking for any particular show, just ask me. Unless it is from 1974 I probably have it on tape here somewhere. I did share a lot of great stuff at dime a few/couple of years ago (and a bunch here too). I still have a lot of CB tapes that need to be transferred. A lot of them would be upgrades, as I have seen many shows pop up on dime or even here that were sourced from tapes I traded back in the snail-mail days.
As far as transfers go I do not have very high quality machines, but I try to do the best I can. That said, if you ever wanted to do any better transfers from any of my tapes I am cool with that, just let me know.

I'll admit that I'm a huge Beefheart fan but relatively ignorant when it comes to what is out there in bootleg-land, so I really wouldn't know what ask for. The sound ratings that I've seen here and there are sketchy at best, or apply to very old tapes. So I've been in a Beefheart downloading frenzy these past few days, sampling everything on the tracker and grabbing what pleases me. I'm amazed at some of the recordings I've discovered! This Liverpool show concerned me because it's always been a favorite, but all I've been able to find was a lossy copy (and the OZIT CD, which is also lossy). I knew there had to be a good tape out there somewhere. So regardless of how this copy compares, I will be grabbing it happily and adding it to my stash!

thanks a lot

If you just been lowered down here on tv by a wire connected to a brown leather harness, forced by a crazy person to insert a mysterious imported lamp into the reproductive orifice of a lady harpist, and you were a dwarf.....would you do it?

Thanks for this. I can't get enough Beefheart (live or studio), and this is a great concert from my favourite live line up (this and the 1972-3 tour).

I think this is an excellent and very very clear audience tape, but not a SBD. The ambient leads me to believe so.
