============= UPDATE, March 2007 =============================

I've uploaded un upgraded version, from digital source, here:

1971 VPRO Documentary Digital TV PAL DVD (Desaab)
http://zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=8378

Desaab

===============================================================

As I am writing this (October 2005), this documentary is on the zappateers tracker as “Re-seed 1970 VPRO Documentary”.
So why this version, you might ask. It’s because this version has a better picture quality, and more bits of course, and menu’s.

Since we are always looking for the best available version, I thought I’d post it.

Here’s the info file:
============= This DVD was done by Desaab, October 2005 ==============
On it you will find Roelof Kiers' 1971 VPRO (Dutch TV) documentary.

This documentary created quite a bit of upheaval here in Holland in 1971.
Questions were asked in parliament, the VPRO was officially reprimanded, different times I guess.

This version is done from the 1988 broadcast when the VPRO thought it was time to do it all again, nobody raised an eyebrow then.

The Lineage:
- TV show to PAL on HIFI VHS,
- Sitting on VHS tape for 17 years, waiting for the digital era to arrive,
- Digitized, using analog input on my Canon MV450i, to DV.
- To my computer trough firewire, PAL 720*576 DV, to Pinnacle Studio,
- Some clipping in Studio version 9, saved as DV (so still same format).
- Transferred to MPEG in TMPEGenc to: MPEG2, PAL 720*576, 7000 kb/s, VBR two pass (highest quality (very slow)), 384 kb/s sound.
- Authored using TMPEGenc DVD author, with 25 chapters menu.

============================== That's all folks ===========================

p.s. I've made a nice cover for this and found that I can't post a file bigger than 256 kbs here. (It's 1 mb)

Is there somewhere on this site where I can share it Question

Sounds good.
Just torrent and upload it, I'd say.

I just realized you might not know how to do this, which would explain your question.

Here's the recipe:

Dumb question: I noticed the source was PAL... does this mean that the DVD is PAL as well? Will I be able to burn this and watch it on my dvd player in Canada? I'm NTSC of course.

Thanks!

The DVD is PAL. There's a lot that could be said about these issues.
What it boils down to is it will play on your computer, but probably not on your DVD player/TV depending on your hardware.
see here: http://www.dvdshippers.com/information.htm for a simple introdcution into al this.

Anyway, I’d say try it, what have you got to loose except a CAN$?

Live is much easier for us in Europe, we can play both. But then, converting to NTSC would downgrade the picture quality, so I didn't.
I guess I could make an NTSC version, if there are people that would be interested.
