|1. seed samples first:
Keep it short, just seed 2 up to 4 samples, each max 1 min; samples "around" the tapeflips are good
(exceptions are masterclones (with known lineage) or boots from a silver CD (known to be non-mp3 sourced), seed those right away)
A free availabe program for tracking or making samples is:
CD Wave: http://www.milosoftware.com/cdwave/download.html
When in doubt or asked for, post a screenshot of frequency-/spectral analysis (SA/FA).
(not neccessary from own taperips or known lineage)
Besides quite expensive programs there are free downloadable:
Exact Audio Copy -> http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/
AnalFreq -> http://www.simtel.net/product.php[id]17151[sekid]0[SiteID]simtel.net
Audacity -> http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
2. wait 5 to 7 days for comments or other samples
This time can be shorter if other people are able to react and compare faster
For both samples and shows/bootlegs we recommend the following naming conventions:
(please avoid special characters as !, [, &, ä, ö, ü or the like)
Shows folders: YYYY MM DD (E/L/R/S) City Country mmm.ss recording gen (ripper/seeder*)
no commas, no other characters
E= early, L= late, R= Rehearsal, S= Soundcheck; recording= Aud, SBD, FM (includes TV)
gen= MC, 1st, 2nd ...
1974 10 31 (L) New York NY 125.39 Aud MC (Yojimbo)
Bootlegs/demos/outtakes.. folder: Name - YYYY MM DD source mmm.ss (ripper/seeder*)
source= LP, CD or tape; YYYY MM DD makes sense only with boots from a single show
Z All You Need Is Glove - 1984 CD 80.0 (jonbfish)
* (ripper) or (ripper-editor) if it's your own work or if it has been altered in any way.
If it's a reseed, use the name of the original seeder, don't put your own name there unless you have made
any work on it yourself.
The above is also our recommended way of naming folders.
Filenames: YYMMDD(E/L/R/S)-City - tracknumber trackname
741031L-New York - 07 Babbette.flac
we like to have common filenames, which makes it easy to "open a window" on seeds for latecommers.
as long everyone uses individual filenames, which causes renaming of files, its not possible to do that.
JN's setlists should be used for proper tracknaming (notes for different setlist, order, missing or additional tracks are welcome)
4. Infos (infofile and message body)
Both samples and shows/boots should include an infofile with informations about:
date, City, Country, total length, recording (Aud, SBD...) Track list; cuts/tape flips etc. are very welcome too.
Lineage (as far as the seeder knows it)
the contents of the infofile together with the ffp's should be pasted into the message body.
