Jean-Claude Vannier -- L'Enfant Assassin Des Mouches (1972)
&
Jean-Claude Vannier -- Interprète Les Musiques De Georges Brassens (1974)

Assassin ought to appeal to the discerning FZ fan. There's a heck of a lot of creativity packed
into that 30 minutes. Discogs Style list: "Musique Concrète, Pop Rock, Prog Rock, Avantgarde,
Psychedelic Rock, Ethereal, Special Effects, Experimental"

which I guess is about right.

I read quite often about Drahdiwaberl, funnily enough in the context of NDW, but heard only very little so far.
The typical thing is some talk about their wild stage shows usually followed by a reference to the early
Mothers of Invention. As far as I know Falco started his career in Drahdiwaberl, and in concerts
had a feature song which started his solo career. Legendary band!

for me today: a mix of my favorite Fred Frith-related bands Henry Cow, Art Bears, Massacre, Skeleton Crew,
various 80s ad hoc-projects + solo stuff... wanna put together a compilation of all that.

I'm 58 pages in to the new Henry Cow book (HC: The World Is A Problem by Benjamin Piekut).
The first 27 (Intro: Feral Experimentalism) is an interesting essay on the ground laid by the
mod classical-jazz-(mostly German)rock musicians that set the agenda, in particular regarding improv
(chance-indeterminancy, etc). I do need to read it again as it is a bit thick (mildly academic-leaning tome...
at least in the intro. The HC-proper chapter one is a normal persons read).

Anyway, I thought of YOU while reading it and here you are cranking HC....

All that said, I've snuck in UNREST and LEG END. They remain exciting. Enough so that I plan to listen
again before proceeding.

But for now, still in Trunk World:

G-Spots - The spacey folk electro-horror sounds of the Studio G Library
(2009 comp. 1969-1981 material, I think)
Love this one. Very different from most library labels. Cool cover art can be seen here:
http://www.trunkrecords.com/turntable/studioG.shtml

Resurrection - The Amplified Bible Of Heavenly Grooves (2001 comp 1966-1973?)

Classroom Projects - Incredible Music Made By Children In Schools (2013 comp 1959-1977 maybe 1981 material)

Good you mention that one - I wasn't aware it exists. I'll check it out, and maybe buy it.

Those are the two HC discs that I always return to. Something really accessible and fun about them. Great music, hibting at so kuch without really going over the edge. They explain thenselves to the listener nicely.
