glug glug glug! congrats, scoobie, on landing in (the reverse of?) Oz.

Faust end:

Tony Conrad w/Faust - Outside The Dream Syndicate (1973)
71 Minutes (2000 comp of archival ep's, etc)

I once owned maybe 2 or 3 later Faust releases but long gone they are. No regrets.

Upon discovery of the band I played the 4 core so much that I needed 20-30 years off, and so here we are
and they remain GREAT. But like all great record bands, caution is advised.

More surprises: my fave thing now is side 2 of the Conrad lp. A true collaboration as opposed to side one, which is
Conrad running the show. At one time the most difficult to acquire, it presently seems to also be the one w/the best
sound quality. Most odd!

Where does one go from here? Popol Vuh! The best of the best since Ludwig Van...

I'm close to finishing my Sun Ra binge. Three outstanding ones from the last few days:

When Angels Speak of Love (1963)
- very advanced-for-its-time avant/free jazz!

My Brother the Wind (1969/70)
I like the 1970-session here, Sun Ra solo plus duo/trio settings.
One particular section sounds like Michel Waisfisz would do a few years later

Voice of the Eternal Tomorrow (1980)
I don't expect too much from 1980 Sun Ra, but this one surprised me + blew me away.
Completely free form & some very nasty playing here!

All in all lots of great reed soloing too. I can't always tell which solo is by which saxophone player. But man, these guys are significant contributors to the development of free jazz blowing. Too bad it has "Sun Ra" written all over it, and the individual players get a bit lost creditwise.

Another thing: Space is the Place at Ann Arbor 1972 has a short solo by a female vocalist (not June Tyson) in which she beautifully adopts sax techniques to the voice (trills/yodels + "overblowing") ... I found it a bit strange at first, but quite intense. I never heard singing like that before.

^^will have to check out the "...Eternal..." Ra again. I listened to it on my binge via youtube
but really don't remember it. Squat Theater! If memory serves, saw Ra there for the first time.^^

but first:
20 core Popol Vuh records
2 weird comps w/added effects/rhythms/Etc. (1 disputed, but I think FF was in on it during a, perhaps, low-point?)
The released at the time (1976) but supposedly unofficial YOGA (FF doing Indian Classical)
The Fitzcarraldo sndtrk which doesn't count as core (mostly non-pv opera-related stuff)
A sort of alt Nosferatu w/nothing new but adds existing tracks from another album that were actually used in the flick but not part of the orig release. Unnecessary! But may as well hang onto it.
A couple extended tracks from Cobra Verde peddled on a meditation tape! (did they just quietly loop these? to double or triple the length? I think so!)
2 FF (one of 'em playing an all Mozart program)
1 archival FF.

Think that's it. 26 to 29 must-haves.

FORGOT TO ADD:
Gila - Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee (1973). Past-Present-Future (Conny) & future (Daniel) PV members w/FF
Tangerine Dream - Zeit (1972) FF is on there somewhere. Hard to tell.

The Indispensable PV Guide here. Before this (2008), life was Hell!
