If this is a master cassette, then this is a different source.

It appears this is a 3rd source! Probably the most complete. I still like mine better. i think i will just put mine up in the shoebox too, and the site can decide which version to use.

this is the best idea this way all the various transfers will be saved by someone for posterity

its like nr vs no nr

can't go back and transfer too many times tapes are getting old

and you may decide later that you prefer one of another

in fact steve has asked me to make these the last transfers

so will do the best possible job

This source does have serious speed problems around the 47 min mark: The start of Deserts is running much too fast, something like 3 entire semitones (300cts),
parts of FZ's intro speech sounding too fast too. Probably some battery troubles with the recoridng equipment.

Everything else (Deserts after the cut, and all other pieces) sounding reasonably OK or close.

BTW, Offrandes (for Soprano and Chamber Orchestra) (between Integrales and Deserts) seems to be missing in this version.

Drew, does your version also have these speed flaws during the first minute of Deserts ?

Not sure? I didn't hear any, but you will be able to check for yourself shortly.

update:
OK, i just checked again, and no, sounds fucking great! Well some hiss, it's probably a 2nd or 3rd gen. Since we have the high end percussion and woodwinds at the start, one would hear pitch changes easily and I heard only smoothness in sound. I didn't check this tape here. i will though...

Return of update:
OK, yeah a major flaw there, and upon listening to this again, it's nice not having the hiss. I like all the versions!! It's a touch duller, but still a nice recording. Mine is nice, but the hiss is very distracting. It would be an improvement to dump the hiss! No my copy is for sure not this source, and those flaws are by the taper fucking with the equipment. Taper does nothing in my source at this point.
