~~ Dog Breath AUD MC fragment (58.18 min) ~~

Complete, with patch from FM broadcast source (contributed by agalli)

To be seen as a complement to the 1978 09 07 Berlin DE seed in FZ Shows.

This is the very show that has got Frank so impressed by L.Shankar's playing
that he'd ask him to join his own band as a guest performer (for the first time) the same evening in Berlin,
and subsequently at several of the famous 1978 NYC Halloween concerts including "The Big One" ...

The complete 1978 09 07 Frank Zappa concert recording (AUD MC, also taped by Dog Breath) is
available in FZ Shows: http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=20268

Although it's IMO a kinda "long shot" to call it FZ related, it's a great performance by a great band!

Now that's what I would call an 'extra long shot'. Wink

Please explain why a band with Warren Cuccurullo (full band member) would not be allowed whereas you do allow a band with L. Shankar (a guest musician)? hmm

Thanks for the seed anyway!

Well I for one (and I think a few others) thought that particular show was of historical enough significance (FZ discovers/meets L.Shankar in Berlin)
to have up here on the tracker, initially in FZ Related, now in Misc - that's fine with me too.

I'm not implying by this that we should have any other McLaughlin/Shankar recording on this tracker.
These would have a better home up on DIME for instance.

As for Duran Duran - I'm guessing that any of their shows including a significant amount of FZ compositions material and(or) featuring FZ alumni would be OK in FZ Related.

phew flambay............MrMcLaughlin...........sure I have some of this somewhere like Drew said, but tapes of non-zappa stuff lost aloooong time ago.

Mclaughlin...sheesh.......arguably it on guitar............technically that is.............of course coming up from the learning curve of MrDavis he has to be something special. MrDavis school is not so totally different from MrFrank school.....both perfectionists and both insistent on stretching the abilities of whoever they employ. Sadly they've both left us now, methinks too many good musicians have gone on that final tour lately, can't wait to get a ticket to see them all.....but it's on hold for a while..... Laughing

We have to smile at the results.

Im glad you justified the reasoning for putting this here, and I agree with your reasoning completely

cheers

Yes, I agree this is part of Zappa lore, and certainly should be included. Also it is the opening act correct? Or vice versa? It's related in a number of ways. Although if people have interest in an alumni forum, speak up!
