1978 10 27, late show

~~ Master clone with patches from 1st gen ~~

While the last two of the Halloween '78 shows are often deemed as the most excellent shows of the run, N.Y. #2 is definitely not far behind. No Watermelon or Packard Goose epics here, but we do get one of FZ's finest guitar solos ever (Persona Non Grata a.k.a. Sinister Footwear, 3rd mvt), the amazing "Improvisations In Q", plus astonishing versions of Thirteen and Yo Mama. Heck, even Why Does It Hurt When I Pee? becomes a mini-monster here.

This is supposedly a clone of the master, even though it's not traceable back to the taper. However, comparing it to circulating 1st gens makes it reasonable to believe this is from the master.
I used to believe there were lots of sources for this show - for instance I thought I had 5 different ones. Upon checking them closely, I realized I had only three. My so-called SBD of the complete show turned out to be an NR'ed version of this source, and I've also received it labeled as "monitor mix". It's also the source for our previous seed by walk, and for the "1st gen Stage" and "1st gen Floor" versions in The Shoebox.

There's one little flaw in this version, a buzzing noise which disappears 17 seconds into track 03. I considered replacing this portion with material from one of the 1st gens, but I decided to leave it as it is. The buzz is rather easy to ignore, I think. Also, a digital flaw in the MC was fixed using a micro-patch taken from a 1st gen from the same master, kindly provided by SH-Drew51.
The tape flips were patched with the second audience source, taped by John S., but my patches are taken from a 1st gen provided by Steve B. I'm not 100% happy with the patches - the difference in ambience is too big - but it gives us a chance to hear this fantastic show in its entirety.
