Captain Beefheart
December 10, 1980
Mudd Club
New York City

Source: audience master > 2cd gen NTSC VHS
Lineage: VHS(2) > SA (XP) > DVD > PC (audio re-master, re-author) > DVD

tape & transfer: BC-hothcanada
audio re-mastered by: S.T.O.H. Productions
Zappateers intro: unicrayon
authoring: voltarized

NTSC DVD, menus with chapter selection
Length: 35:05
Video: MPEG-2 8000Kb/s
Audio: LPCM 1536Kb/s

Setlist:
Bass Solo
Best Batch Yet
Dirty Blue Gene
Sugar 'n' Spikes
Ashtray Heart
Doctor Dark
Sheriff Of Hong Kong
Making Love To A Vampire With A Monkey On My Knee
Suction Prints
Big Eyed Beans From Venus

Same vhs source as was used on the original Zappateers DVD release "The Dark Footage".
Audio was recaptured from the same tape by voltarized & remastered by S.T.O.H.
Despite having a more professional capture rig at our disposal this time, the picture quality could not be improved upon, thus, only slight modifications have been made in that department.
Audio came out considerably less distorted.

"Dirty Blu Gene"? oh well, you get the drift....

Cool! Thanks for the upgrade in the audio on this one.

I think I mentioned this once before but it's worth telling again as it relates to this gig. Around the time of the Beacon & Mudd Club shows, my brother helped Don pick out and sold him some Chinese opera gongs at The Professional Percussion Center, in NYC, where he was working at the time. The bizarre thing is that the Captain asked my brother if he knew where he could get some "China white" as he was leaving the shop. I believe this to be a heroin reference. Do you think he dabbled or was he just making some off the cuff Beefheartian remark because he had just purchased some Chinese gongs?

I believe he was into coke at the time. Could be a reference to that.

Definitely a Heroin reference. Sounds like a sarcastic joke as he was in a China shop and NYC and around that time China White was prevalent in NYC. Not that I would know this first hand, just sayin'. google it

Excellent, thanks! Saw them a short while before this gig in Worcester...only about 25 of us in the audience. Amazing.
