Note: due to a couple of mistakes in the original seed, I have uploaded a new torrent. Here's what you need to do if you downloaded the previous one:

* Rename the folder 1969 02 23 (E) Toronto ON 67.45 SBD 4th (Yojimbo) (the time is changed).
* Delete the file "1969 02 23 (E) Toronto ON - 09 A Pound For A Brown", the ffp file and the info file.
* Download the new torrent.

Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention
Rockpile
Toronto, Canada
1969 02 23 early show

~~ From 4th gen soundboard recording ~~

And so we reach the end of our Toronto '69 upgrade series. This is a very popular show, and rightly so - the sound is very good, and so is the setlist with all of its "Rubenism". I don't know the story behind this tape - it's a SBD as opposed to all the stage recordings - but I got it from LC along with the stages, with the same generation number, so it may very well have a similar history.

The only flaws on this tape are a few drop-outs, some of them in one channel. I only fixed one of those by mono conversion, in the other spots it sounded too distracting.

FZShows entry:

1969 02 23 - Rockpile, Toronto, Canada
Early show

65 min, SBD, B+
A.k.a 1969 02 22.

Intro, Bacon Fat, Lonely Lonely Nights, Corrido Rock, Pachuko Hop, Behind The Sun, The String Quartet (q: Petrushka), Charles Ives (q: Rite Of Spring), WPLJ, In The Sky, All Night Long

This version: 67:45 min, SBD, A- (stereo)

Lineage: SBD recording > Reel-to-reel tape (4th gen) > CDR (standalone burner) > EAC > SoundForge 10.0 (speed correction, editing, level adjustment, converting one small portion to mono, tracking) > Trader's Little Helper (flac level 7)

Taped by: ?
Transferred by: LC
Edited by: Yojimbo

Setlist:
01 intro and tune-up
02 Bacon Fat
03 Lonely Lonely Nights
04 preamble
05 Corrido Rock
06 Pachuko Hop
07 Behind The Sun
08 preamble
09 A Pound For A Brown
10 Sleeping In A Jar
11 Charles Ives
12 preamble

Thank you very much for this upgrade!

I thought this was a stage recording because there seems to be some vocals missing from the mix. The vocals also appear in either the left or right, implying that it was recorded in stereo with two vocal mics (Don P's supposed recording setup). I could be wrong though.

Are there any tapes left in this series? I was hoping for upgrades of Amsterdam & Copenhagen - downloading samples now...

Argh - the Toronto curse! I've changed the post above, but the error will live on in the info file, I'm afraid.

I would be surprised if my copies of these were the best around. My Amsterdam '68 is a CDR from blackpage, which I don't think I've checked against the sampled versions - will do so soon. And I believe that my Copenhagen SBD material is all from doctorzap, but I need to look into that too.
But I have lots of early low gen material from LC left. Ripping my Fillmore and Paris SBDs as we speak.

The mistake in the text file wasn't the only one. I had forgotten to remove an overlap in Pound For A Brown. This, and some other mistakes, has been corrected - here's what you need to do:

* Rename the folder 1969 02 23 (E) Toronto ON 67.45 SBD 4th (Yojimbo) (the time is changed).
* Delete the file "1969 02 23 (E) Toronto ON - 09 A Pound For A Brown", the ffp file and the info file.
* Download the new torrent.

Sorry 'bout the mess (why do I get a deja-vu feeling writing that?).
