And here's number 5. The encores are a bit of a patchwork. Maybe one day we can welcome the entire show in A-/B+ Like it says inMr JN's list. This is another invitation to him to share his wealth (he also got from us) in this forum.

Hey friends,
I've just checked my version of 10/29/78. It's on two CDRs that came in a trade about three years ago. As the other dates from this run, the 10/29 set was a bit of a mess, and I had to fix this and that. But here's my report in case this can help. My version is clean and complete up to the encore. Sofa #2 is incomplete: a small section at the very beginning of the song is missing, but you do hear FZ announcing the song and most of it is there (roughly from the line that mentions "metal geld"). Then after "Eddie are you kidding me" you can hear the beginning of Packard Goose, which fades out just seconds into. But then something weird happens: there's another Packard Goose (beginning again with "Eddie are you kidding me" which sounds deceptively like the end of Sofa #2), but this time it's a B-sounding soundboard, very different source. This version of Packard Goose is complete, but I have no way of telling if it's from this date and location or if it's a filler from elsewhere (there's no audience noise whatsoever, so the contrast in ambience between these two recordings is too great to hear any continuity.) Since I don't yet have the version seeded here, I cannot compare them. Okay, there's more. Packard Goose goes into A Pound For A Brown, but unfortunately A Pound fades out right at the beginning, this time for good. So my two quick questions: How does this version of Packard Goose end? Does it sound like the end of the show? In my view, it sort of makes sense that the encore would include more than just Sofa #2 and Packard Goose (which together amount to about 8-9 minutes of music only). These Halloween encores tend to be rather long. So chances are the soundboard Packard Goose I mentioned could be the right version, and in this case it might be worth while to have a listen to it. That would also suggest that JN's listing is incomplete. But at this point, I am only speculating. If somebody wants to comment on this, make suggestions, etc, please do. I wish I could just seed this one song for you guys to compare, but I haven't figured out how to do it, and I feel a bit lost when it comes to the technicalities of it all. But I'll work on it. Coming soon to an earplug near you! Cheers,

globual
