The Eyes Of Osaka - 2CD Set

3 February 1976

Linage
Unknown > CD > Wavelab Lite extraction > FLAC using dbPowerAMP level 4 compression (medium)

From JN: Normalshow: 120 min, Aud, B+

I got this CD set about 14-15 years ago and have included scans of the cover. This is one of the earliest CD boots that I know of and it makes for pretty good listening.

Info from http://www.lukpac.org/~handmade/patio/bootlegs/concert_boots1976-1980.html#theeyesofosaka

It is from this legendary concert that the (abridged) Zoot Allures version of "Black Napkins" is lifted, just like "Ship Ahoy" on Shut Up & Play Yer Guitar (and parts of "Duck Duck Goose" on Lšther); the first and last parts of the drum solo appear on Stage #3, as "Hands with a Hammer", duly credited to Bozzio - and the 1976 part of "Zoot Allures" on that album is also from Osaka.

(On Zoot Allures, the 00:00-01:14 and 02:06-07:11 parts of "Black Napkins" have been edited out. The Shut Up & Play Yer Guitar version of "Ship Ahoy" consists of 00:00-04:25 + 04:44-05:41 of the Osaka recording. "Duck Duck Goose" on Lšther contains 03:13-04:07 + 04:17-04:23 + 04:44-05:41 of the Osaka recording. At 05:41, the solo is over, and the rest of the track is a band introduction and vamp.)

The Eyes of Osaka cover is a blown-up mirror image of the Apostrophe (') cover.

I was searching for some 1976 soundboard recording, but it seems there are only audience recordings. Confused .Or not?

Actually, I know of someone who already transferred the Mystery Box...I remember getting some of the discs from the Pink Floyd #roio hub in mIRC. I can show you the txt files--maybe that'll help get you more information on where to find them.

I wish someone could upload The Old Masters vinyls; I've never heard the original Zappa albums the way they originally sounded.

Sorry, but officially released material is not allowed here, besides, the Old Masters mixes is pretty much identical to the CD releases.

Fresh lossless rips of "The Mystery Box" would be very nice though Wink

Personally I would LOVE the Mystery Box! I have a bad cassette copy..

I know that there's the "odd" officially released tid bit, but if you had the cross reference to the official, you could use the official in your personal burn, to keep the integrity of the box set as it were...

I would go for the 16 bit...24 bit isn't quite as wide spread yet...well maybe make both available...

Thanks!
