That's how I imagine the cartridge for the "Grand Wazoo" Atari 2600 game would look!

Hmm. Zappa never recorded for A&M, any chance this is a mismatched tape and box?

I think you're right there, the box looks iffy, the tape looks like the normal US to me.

good eye, looks kinda spurious, it's from 07-2011 & my only scan; different than the usa 8t box

the a&m box looks like it has a see-thru cutout with artwork showing thru vs. box & it's tape have identical artwork; a&m track numbering is up -> down vs. left -> right; a&m box has track info & artwork together on front vs. artwork only on front

a&m was pretty big in canada, maybe they had distribution for 8-tracks only and it's a stereo version from canada in a generic a&m quad sleeve

Most likely you do have a test pressing. Those usually do come with blank labels and covers and it would usually be the artist or someone with industry connections like your old boss's wife who would have access to them.

one is marked 'The Grand Wazoo' and 'K44209 The Mothers' both handwritten. Inside is a pristine looking album with a white (blank) centre and 'K 44209-A1' on one run off groove. On the flip side is 'K 44209-B1' and also in run off groove is etching 'Rays + Kips' on the B side run off. The sound quality seems awesome. I'm amazed for a vinyl album and old one at that.

A little internet research narrows down to 1972 and probably reprise. However most seem to have gatefolds and printing on the centre label.

A little bit more internet research - like reading the beginning of this thread - would have confirmed that you have a version of the UK or European release - the fact it is white labels usually means a test pressing.
