Does it otherwise correspond with one of the four listed versions?

Yes, the side 1 label is the only difference there is.

Is there no circular "r" on the front cover?

According to an earlier post of you all of them have 400 Days..., correct?

You refer 2 times to pic #2, shouldn't the 3rd issue refer to pic #3?

sorry for walking on your nervs, but this is really gettin' difficult to keep track with hmm

Here's a version of Uncle Meat that I haven't seen listed anywhere yet. I bought this item on Ebay sometime in 2006.

It's a Muntz Stereo-Pak 4 track tape cartridge of "Uncle Meat (part 2)", so there must be a part 1 around as well.

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about this particular type of tape cartridge:

The Muntz Stereo-Pak, commonly known as the 4-track cartridge, is a magnetic tape sound recording cartridge technology. The in-car tape player that played the Stereo-Pak cartridges was called the Autostereo, but it was generally marketed under the common Stereo-Pak trade name.

The Stereo-Pak cartridge was inspired by the Fidelipac 3-track tape cartridge system invented by George Eash in 1954 and used by radio broadcasters for commercials and jingles beginning in 1959. The Stereo-Pak was adapted from the basic Fidelipac cartridge design by Earl "Madman" Muntz in 1962, as a way to play prerecorded tapes in cars.

Anyone else ever seen this baby? Smile

Hi guys, I have a very rare, possibly only known, or even unknown. (or publicly unknown version, of Uncle Meat, the original soundtrack to the movie never made. Released in US in '68 with different track lengths on 23 of 28 songs. I could really use any expertise. Copyrighted 1968, not '69. It has the original comicbook, and at least one of the two original sleeves. I've scoured every source, and couldn't find another in exsistence(or even a mention of its existence). Its similar to the original early USA releases in many ways: Industrial pollution is listed in the jacket, and 400 days on the label. The last King Kong, has the Zappa Underwood ramifimacations text. And most other common things appear to line up that way(the track seperation is very odd, in some places there appear to be track seperations, and in other parts there aren't) . The outside of the comic looks the same, I'd have to look at the inside pages of the other one to compare with the one I have for possible differences there. Liner notes state album was recored over a period of 5 months between October'67 and Febuary '68 (instead of September '68)

The HUGE thing that seperates this from any other copy of Meat is the track lengths. I will list them, the durations range from 1 sec differences all the way up to a 2:14 difference (Dog Breath and Golden Arches are the two biggest by far) . Times on mine listed first.

1. 1:54/ 1:56

2. .27/ :26

3. 5:56/ 6:00

4. :57/ :54

5. 5:51/ 3:59

6. 1:24/ 3.28

7. 2:28/ 2:19

8. 1:36/ 1:48

9. :49/ :50

10. same

11. 4:40/ 4:46

12. 1:53/ 1:48

13. 3.24/ 3.38

14. 1.22/ 1.10

15. same

16. 5.08/ 5.05

17. 3.10/ 3.14

18. 1:48/ 2:03

19. 1.29/1.13

20. same

21. 4.47/4.48

22. 2:19/ 2.18

23. :53/ :49

24. 1.15/ 1.21

25. same

26. same

27. :29/ :34

28. 7:22/ 7:24

Also, Billy the oozer Mundi is credited with "drums on some pieces, before he quit to join Rhinocerous"(does not mention dec '67). I saw a 1969 beleived test press on popspike.com, the only test press I was able to find, and Billy was not credited at all on that. I do believe my version proceeds that. So, please if you have know of, or can find any information for me I would greatly appreciate it. I can't send pics through the computer, but I can send you all the pics youll need on my cell phone. Or if you know of anyone in the chicagoland area, they can check it out in person. I have no idea what to do with this record. I have a good knowledge of both vinyl and frank's work, but this is over my head. I sent an email to the zappa family trust, but have yet to here back. I attemped to contact reprise as well, but they pretty much told me to shove off. Thank you. Contact me at curlymovinson@yahoo.com, or simply reply to this post.

Kurly

pictures would help.

Is it possible that you're comparing the track length to a CD release?
Your track times are exactly the same as mentioned inside the gatefold of the original vinyl (and all other copies I checked).

Track separation on the original vinyl is also like you mention. Sometimes there is none, sometimes there is some.

The credits you discribe are also identical to the original vinyl issue. Copyright is also 1968.

So what do you have there? How does the label look like? Is it a blue Bizarre? Is it possible that simply half of your gatefold cover is missing?

pictures would definitely help.

Does the bill mundi credit include he quit in dec '67, and do the liner notes sat recorded between oct and feb (not sep). Idk, thanks for the help, much obliged. i'm still gathering info. i'll try to get some pics up maybe is this is anything. do you know where there is a pic of the cover and gatefold from the original release.
