I just realised that this is the copy that I have headhammer

HAHA yes, sometimes it's difficult to keep track.

It should read "Distributed" not "Manufactured" though.

Hmm, possibly because Freak Out was in the Old Masters box released that year?

Of course the j-card also mentions the Real FZ Book not published until 1989.

Plus the FZ/25 advert...would the and (P) refer to the fact that it might be the OM source?

Hello everyone,

I can add a few details for the

US - "Mutations Variation: black and / or white labels

1 FO! US VERVE V6 5005-2 1970s S 2LP 2nd Pr.? / Black Labels with "... 7165 Sunset Boulevard, ..."/ Matrix handwritten / Label: V6 5005-2

the writing on spine is white

and also a few details for the

1 FO! FRA VERVE 710 003 1967 S LP Single LP / Blue Label / different back cover: black & white group photo / GU / Distribution POLYDOR S.A.

The up right french front cover has a "gravure universelle" text box
The back cover shows Don Preston and Bunk Gardner, but they don't play on this album.
The black writing on spine don't mention "Freak out!"

Matrix is not handwritten : P 1967 B7 <> V 710003

I have this copy:

Quote:
1 FO! CAN VERVE V6 5005-2 1973 S 2LP Black Label / Stereo / Polydor / Label: V6 5005-2 / with Map-offer / Spine: J / Side 1,4,2,3 / Inner Spread has 1973

Double LP Re-Issues

However, the spine on mine has -5005-2(E) in white. Is this the same?

Yours sounds more like that one:
CAN VERVE V6 5005-2 [E] 1966 S 2LP Blue "Stereophonic" Label /"... Quality Records..." / Label: V6 5005-2 / with Map-offer / Spine: V6-5005-2 [E] / Side 1,4,2,3

If your label doesn't have the wide 'stereophonic' right under the Verve logo there is always the chance that the cover and records where a later 'marriage'.
Happens often enough when you buy second-hand. But it is also possible (and likely) that some covers have been used for different issues.

I just realize that my copy of the canadian 'J' spine variant comes with a blue label (GZ: 17.3) instead of the above mentioned black.

Hasi, Bengo and other completists may have something to add

Sony Playtape 2:

(If the item got away, I have the data stashed away somewhere.)

Edit: Wonder where I got the "Sony" from?

The German Single LP (VERVE 710 003) has now been counterfeited.

The main difference to the original is the colour of the label (turquoise).
