Remarks by Chunga's Revenge:
* The sound of this MC source is even better than the other MC source. Also this has a lot of warm audience atmosphere. O yeah, we were so enthousiastic!
* Directly in the beginning Zappa refers to the 1971 Rotterdam times with saying: "Geef mij wat vloerbedekking onder deze vette zwevende sofa" and than later on in the show "And you'll never hear vloerbedekking again".
* In the beginning of the concert, while Zappa reads the songlist, my friend Appiezappie is holding up a sign with "Black Napkins" on it. Of course Zappa responds on that: "Black Napkins tomorrow night".
After the Intermission when announcing the songlist for "tomorrow night" Zappa forgets to mention Black Napkins and when Appiezappie sticks up the sign again: "O yeah, we squeeze that in, don't worry". And yes, Zappa plays Black Napkins the next night! BTW the songlist changed at more places the next day. A few songs mentioned were played at Dortmund the night after.
* With friends and friends of friends we were sitting at the 1st row, I think we got half the 1st row (some of us had to spend a night in front of the Ahoy to get those tickets). Well, our unbridled enthusiasm was of course noticed by Zappa. A lot of signs and fingers and winks during the concert.
* I like the guitar solo's from this concert a lot. The one in Advance Romance is great as are the ones in Heavy Duty Judy and Trouble Every day. In front of Zappa we were blown away when he took out his solo's.

Great alt & upgrade guys. These were among my earliest '88 shows (MP3's then) so it is great to get these fantastic versions.

Kind regards,

thanks CR for sharing your memories of this show. I guess your enthusiasm along with winking and other type of verbal and non-verbal communication lifted the spirit of the band and made them play a great show as evidenced by the fact that a fair bit of it was officially released.

I'm not sure: Packard Goose or Joe's Garage. I tend to JG.

Funny, I can't even remember Frank was wearing this. Thanks for including the pictures.
I attended both shows, too.
This must be version #4 or #5 from this show that I have.
grazie,
JJ
