I guess the best way to listen to this is while on a road trip. That way it will sound as if these guys are talking in the back seat! Smile The interview is conducted in a car. I have plenty more in this series. I plan on presenting another shortly, but then I need to do some Zappa interviews, these are worked on as side projects. Zappa concerts have priority. It's been awhile so here is another.
The next two in this series IMHO are extremely interesting, and both rather rare. Most in this series are rare.

I really love these types of interviews. They really are the raw material for understanding what went on in the bands to produce this great music. Many thanks!

great interview - thanks alot

interesting to hear him talk about the most difficult trombone parts ever written were written by Frank - and played on the Wazoo tour in 1972 live - but never recorded - Kung Fu for trombone also very difficult

lots of good stuff

Some refused, so not all. Some are short too. I presented the longer ones. Most are 45 minutes, one is 10 minutes by phone. I have 14 interviews. Not all are with band members, and he interviewed some band members twice. I will eventually present them all. I'm glad people are enjoying them. Nice to contribute and preserve this stuff. Keep it warm! More probably exist, this was all i was able to pull out of this source. Most writers, or journalists keep this stuff close. We are lucky to hear it.

Are you able to tell us who refused - and do you know the reasons why they didn't want to participate?

I don't know? Sorry, I was just told some refused, no names. Or I don't remember names? It was a while ago. Some of the interviews are also of poor quality as he just didn't have the ideal set up.

Hey Drew, thanks so much for these! I've seen a couple interviews with Bruce and he's always fascinating.

Do you have an interview with Denny Walley by any chance? I saw an interview with him in a documentary, might have been the 1993 BBC one, but I can't quite recall...anyway, it was really interesting. I had no idea Frank had known Denny since they were young! I figured he was just another guy who had auditioned for Frank at some point.

anyhow, thanks, and keep up the good work!

Scott

No, I don't and yeah he is interesting. It explains a lot too, as the ZFT gave their blessing on his covers in his release back in 97, I think? I'm sure Juha has more interviews, but I was unable to obtain them all. Also I know a few writers who conducted interviews, recorded them, and do not want the tapes out. I was unable to obtain some this way, and two I did obtain, I'm not allowed to post them.
Thanks too, i will try to get back to this series soon. Flambay is planning a long absence, most of April. That would be a good time for me to do one or two more.

Perhaps you already know this, but here is a print interview with him.
