Just a bunch of quick samples to compare to the WIU2B-Flambay samples. The two sound almost identical to my ears, but if someone has a preference for either, speak up!

Indeed, sounding almost identical with the WIU2B samples,
but differences in the SA/FA seem to suggest that WIU2B's has an extra layer of hiss.

So we should probably go with Yojimbo's version then,
unless we do hear more votes in favour of WIU2B's.

SA/FA for 790208-untitled sample (Yojimbo/purple vs. WIU2B/blue):

Yes, the only difference I could tell was the way the hiss sounds, and the SA explains this: the hiss in my version mainly consists of a "red stripe", while the WIU2B version has, as you say, an entire layer of hiss overall. I think we've seen very good examples of red stripe removal here before, which could serve as a legitimate NR here, IMO. Is parametric/paragraphic EQ the way to go?

I cannot find anything like the FFT filter in Sound Forge 8.0. Does anyone have suggestions for a good method for SF? I've been trying with parametric and paragraphic EQ, and the Sonic Foundry NR tool, with no satisfying results.

I don't know really what to tell, but I want to thank you in advance for this rehearsal... I've always wanted to hear that one, because they play "Florentine Pogen", possibly my favourite Zappa song.

But also, it sounds like the first minutes of the tape are really worth. Look foward to it.

cheers
