Jon, there are 'contributors,' and then there's you.

Zappacheers!

... and what's on the list hmm ? Billy Ray Cyrus of course, but what else?

We got 6" of snow last night, so hot whiskies were practically compulsory.

Here are my observations after whipping out the official releases:

Rollo is the same mix as One Shot Deal but with reversed channels. And of coruse it's longer here. I don't have Quadiophiliac but isn't that downmixed from quad?

Naval Aviation In Art is the same mix as '95 Orchestral Favorites. Lather has this same mix as well but with reversed channels.

Pedro's Dowry largely matches the '95 Orchestral Favorites, except for at least two brief sections where the mix is clearly different, which I suppose would make it an alternate edit. Lather has the same mix as Orchestral Favorties but the channels are again reversed.

...and Strictly Genteel is definitely an alternate take, or at least partially an alternate take.

so here is how I have these outtakes listed...

01 Strictly Genteel (Alternate Take)
02 Duke Of Prunes (Basic Tracks)
03 Black Napkins (Outtake)
04 Rollo (Extended)
05 Pedro's Dowry (Alternate Mix/Edit)
06 Naval Aviation In Art? (No Differences)

So, the first three songs are totally unreleased, the last 3...not so much.

Cool boot!

This is a great set, thanx again.
But i have a lil feeling that there could be switched channels/phases, it least it sounds so to my ears. Anybody else ?

Switched channels and Phase problems are two completely different beasts. Switching channels will not cause phase problems.

Yes I know, but i'm not sure which of both caused the effect i believe to hear.

The Orchestral Favorites CD has reversed channels compared to the Orchestral Favorites LP, as well as Lather. (See JWB's post above.) This set of outtakes suggests that the reversal on the CD may not just be a 90's mistake. Others on the site would be better equipped than me to check on the phase question.

The only sound flaw that I'm aware of is a lack of low end in the right channel - probably the age of the tape that's showing. This may account for some unbalance between the channels. Converting to mono solves that problem, but we wouldn't want to lose the information from the right channel.
