Heya, folks. Just got a tip that the American cable station Turner Classic Movies (best channel on American TV, and if it wasn't before, it darn tootin is now) will be showing the movie The World's Greatest Sinner on October 24th at 2 AM. The relevance here is obviously that Frank Zappa did the soundtrack to it. Beyond that, though, it's quite possibly the greatest movie ever made in human history, and you owe it to yourselves to see it. I'll be checking it out myself to see if it's an improvement on the version already out there (my understanding of the situation is that Timothy Carey's son owns the only print, so it will probably be coming from his copy). Hopefully somebody out there has a DVR and can tape it and transfer it to DVD in the event it's a significant improvement! (Yes, that's a pre-emptive grovel. Smile )

Who's going to tape it and put it up (on an alternate source)?

What I have on DVD is pretty bad at the beginning of the movie. The title songs plays with only still shots of the opening credits. None of those stills hold steady. Someone will have to do an edit of the two sources. I doubt TCM will show the uncut movie, they are all cowards.

For instance, you will not see any titties during 200 Motels. Reverend

TCM is pretty good about showing uncut movies.

According to TCM's web site the movie length is 99 min. IMDb shows 98-99 min. So apparently no censorship. I also requested Uncle Meat at TCM's web site.

And a hello to everyone from a new member of the group.

TCM are not cowards. They show all movies uncut and without commercial interruption. If they are showing "200 Motels", you can bet there will be titties. (Also, at four in the morning you can get away with pretty much anything on cable, even basic cable. I saw Bad Santa completely unedited on Comedy Central last year.)
