Thanks for seeding this!

I am a fan of Z, which also contained Mike Keneally & Joe Travers, plus Bryan Beller (EDIT: This is actually the "Dweezil Zappa Band", which included MK & Scott Thunes. See below for further details). My hope is that this show contains the larger than life Medley (ANOTHER EDIT: It does!! Smile ). That alone should make this worth downloading.

If you like this, I'd recommend the March 3, 1994 show ("Z - 1994 03 15 Milwaukee WI SB": http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3201) which contains the Medley fer sure.

Are there any other known recordings of Z (3rd EDIT: or DZB?) circulating?

Thanks again for making this available!!!

After giving this a listen, and considering the date, personnel and the material played, I'm convinced that this is really the "Dweezil Zappa Band" that eventually evolved into "Z".

The band consists of DZ, AZ, MK, Scott Thunes & Josh Freese. Most of the material that I was able identify (see partial setlist below) comes from DZ's "My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama" & "Confessions".

MK's Pre-'94 BFD Tour Chronology (http://www.cidanka.nl/keneally/9xgigs.htm) seems to clearly indicate that this is the DZB, unless they quickly changed their name in the four days following the documented 1991-05-01 gig in London. Smile

Here's what I could easily identify from a first listen. Can anybody give any further help?

          1. Hello
          2. Confessions of a Deprived Youth
          3. Bang Your Groove Thang
          4. Fuck Everybody(??)
          5. ?????
          6. Bad Girl
          7. Your Money or Your Life
          8. I'm So Cute
          9. Broken Hearts Are For Assholes
          10. ?????
          11. G-Spot Tornado
          12. ?????
          13. You Can't Judge A Girl By The Panties She Wears (Partial)
          14. ?????
          15. ?????
          16. If The Rain Keeps Up, I Won't Be Home Tonight(??)
          17. My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama
          18. The 70s Medley (beg)
          19. Intros
          20. The 70s Medley (end)
          21. Purple Guitar
          22. Dirty Love

Where I had a good guess, I included a title with "(??)". Where I could make no conclusive call, I left the track with a "?????", although in many of these tracks there's plenty of riffology that most everyone would recognize, but not enough to unambiguously name a track.

This is a fun set with all kinds of FZ and other recognizable quotes everywhere.

If we can get a complete setlist, would it be correct to update the artist, tracklist and notes and re-seed?

Thanks again for making this available. Clearly I enjoyed it... Smile Smile

That's the reason I call it a juke-box on 'random play'.

I hope you enjoy it anyway. ( it was stored for 17 years )

Thanks for the helping hand guys.

And indeed it's the 'Dweezil Zappa Band' with Josh Freese on Drums (J.T. was with Z)

Lost my notes after these years.

(It was a show with many 'guitar changes' and the Dweez was fitted with his card-suit )

I've seen this show in Paradiso.
After the FZ 1988 tour it was very quiet for some years, and this was the opportunity to see and listen some FZ music live. The 70 medleys quoted the most FZ tunes. MK was good and DZ was ok at the time.
I didn't like very much the DZ songs but all the way it was fun to see the Dweezil Zappa Band live in those days.

The "big Juke-Box on random play" seems to draw massively from my teenage record collection circa 1976.
The Grand Wazoo opening on track 06 is really hot!

Thank you!

I was out of town else yeah I could confirm that and as you see from the post above, more examples exist. I'll torrent anything if somebody can torrent something NOT on the list, well I will torrent anyway, but if you want it anytime soon, torrent something, and I will move it up, which means it will take a month, the list is long! Many of these are from Lagz, he has an excellent Z collection also, as does Blackpage, come to think of it.
All my listings are cassette tapes. I loooked at my CDR list, and have these also:
3/7/94 Z - 9:30 Club, Washington DC
FOB Sonic Studio>DAT>Analog>CDR VG+ 2 CD's
10/18/95 Z -Alligator Lounge, Santa Monica, CA DAT>CD

Thanks la_biesta for this fine low gen example. Anything on my list you would like to see, i will put on list to convert, or track down a lower gen from Lagz or Blackpage to convert.
