Completely agree with this assessment. It's difficult to pick from the two. Both are desert island recordings. Just superb. IMHO, the Sidney performance nudges into the lead by a fraction of a fraction ... simply because this is my favorite performance of "Dupree's Paradise." Not to mention how sterling this show sounds. Humphrey and Fowler just blow me away when I listen to these tunes. One of the best shows by one of the best bands.

Have to throw Passaic 5-09-73 and maybe even Princeton 4-27-73 in there too. Sydney 7-08-73 would be up there too if the recording wasn't so distorted. And of course, Stockholm 8-21-73 was always a favorite of mine. Frank's solo in "Dupree's Paradise" is excellent.

I've always been fond of the backwards show - 1973 03 04 Daytona.

1973 05 09 Passaic is a classic and it was part of my first tape trade, so it wins with nostalga points.

The 'backwards' show?

Frank announces at the end of band introductions that, unbeknownst to any members of the band, they will be playing the night's song list in reverse order for a change of pace.

May 6, 1973 Syria Mosque, Pittsburgh, PA. Because it was my first Zappa show Razz and Frank lets JLP whip it out.

another vote for 10/26 Austin. AMAZING sound and a great performance. Probably my favorite "Big Swifty" ever. The band is playing full-tilt, George is soloing, then FZ cues "The Hook", which they crash into full-speed then a moment later they're back into George's solo, full-tilt, like nothing happened. It's a really, really incredible performance.
