FRANK ZAPPA
PARIS, France
Théâtre de la Ville

09 January 1984
World Premiere

~~ samples from WIU2B version ~~

For comparison to the version seeded by unclemeat on DIME, see discussion there (and samples),
here we have samples from WIU2B's tape, from a different radio programme (different radio host talking).
I believe this version sounds a bit cleaner, with less FM noise interference.
A few parts do sound a bit distorted.
Maybe someone else has an even cleaner version to offer.

Lineage:
FM > Unknown gen Maxell XL II cassette>Nakamichi DR-10>Terratec DMX6 Fire 24/96 soundcard>Adobe Audition 1.5>WAV>Flac Frontend encoding level 5>FLAC > wav >

taped by: unknown
traded with: P. Dumontier

Ensemble InterContemporain, dir. Pierre Boulez

01 radio host Intro (3:14) °°° sample 01: final 0:38
02 Dupree's Paradise (9:04) °°° sample 02: first 2 mins
03 radio host talk (1:01)
04 Naval Aviation in Art ? (2:31) °°° sample 04: full track
05 radio host talk (1:14)
06 The Perfect Stranger (12:32) °°° sample 06: first 2 mins and last 1 min plus outro
07 radio host Outro (1:07)

Total time: 30'45

You will hear in these samples the radio host giving the wrong titles to the pieces played.
He is introducing Dupree's Paradise as The Perfect Stranger and vice versa.

This could be the same as WIU2B's version.
Radio host in this version is also mentioning the other three composers here.

My copy is not as bright as this one. Lower volume levels, and more hiss. I do hear some Fm distortion, but even with that this version rocks. I would love this whole radio show in this quality. I noticed the Unclemeat one was aired in 1994, probably because of Frank's death. This here is the original broadcast i bet. Mine sounds like a 1984 broadcast, this one does not, even though it probably is. I'm not sure samples of mine are needed. I can, but not till late tonight. Along with St. Louis 77.

In any case I would be very interested some day to hear the complete 1984 programme including Carter and Ives,
be it this Drew version, as described - with lower brightness, or another brighter souding one.

How about, in order to get this one moving too, having
1) this orig.1984 broadcast (full Zappa section) (WIU2B version) seeded in FZ Shows
2) the 1994 re-broadcast (unclemeat/DIME seed, samples upped here by unicrayon) also (re)seeded in FZ Shows
and, at a later stage - whenever Drew (or someone else) finds the time for this to get transferred -
3) the full 1984 programme (Carter, Ives, Zappa) (Drew version or another one) seeded in FZ Radio Shows ?

Anyone having a decent sounding lossless recording of the 1984 01 XX Zappa Boulez Paris rehearsal session,
he/she could share a set of samples from ? Thanks.

(I only have a very bad sounding MP3 version.)
