All right, let's start a (separate) "comments" thread to this "Bad Sources Database - version 2.0", so nicely put together by ZappaPenguin.
Thanks for allowing us to have a complete overview on all shows seeded here, still in need of additional fixing.

Quote:
1976 10 24 (L) Boston MA 107.41 aud (walk-fl-av) ZTLS #219 (only "partially" speed corrected, according to av)
Yes, only "partially" speed corrected, because only parts of the old seed needed speed correction. The rest was OK.
Now the complete show, as seeded here by av, is running at correct speed.

In other words this entry could get deleted from the BSD. Wink

The early show OTOH, additionally to the issues mentioned (incomplete etc.), still does need speed correction.

Sorry for picking nits, but I think Jean-Luc Ponty deserves to have his name spelled correctly. Wink

Bravo! Smile

I've found something to add:
Frank Zappa
15-Nov 1980, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL

This seed is very off speed (very slower). Also look at Flambay and Walk's comments to prove it Wink :

thanks walk for this rare snippet ...

Fortunately there's a bit of Torture music and guitar soloing towards the end of this track, so we could determine a speed correction ratio that would make some sense imho ... hmm

Based on the Torture theme heard around 6.00 I would suggest about 1.6 semitone (+160 cents) up. tunes

lol, thats indeed a lot, sorry i didnt even check the the speed on this, which happens rather seldom, good to have you around flambay and THX !

(i should explain the secret word for tonight is THANKS!)

I hope this helps Wink

cheers

That is the AUD source! Why would it need patches from itself? Razz

Besides having bad files names this torrent is tape sourced

and flambay confirmed that this torrent is not speed corrected

Running speed of this version is indeed a bit slow, in the 30cts range over all tracks.

Sorry about the delay here - never noticed this message until now headhammer

CD-R sourcing, by itself, does not render a source "bad". What I mean by "mastered for CD-R" is the stuff that affects a lot of the bburnett seeds - fade-outs in shitty places, basically.

If there are audio errors, or if it's a CD-R rip of original .FLACs (see San Carlos 1974) then that's another issue.

I'll add the info in re: speed correction.

Musigny has a first gen, well as a matter of fact I do too. I guess I should contact him about 1976 11 19 Considering all, it could be better? We won't know unless dive in! I'll ask about obtaining a copy from Musigny23 for comparison, and also pull my copy out.

Sorry I didn't know that Embarassed

another correction (i think):

http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=12774

http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=12774

I'm pretty sure that these two torrents above don't have bad file names as you have listed. You're correct that the torrent of the next day's performance at the same venue has bad file names.

and one more correction:
http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=12874

the torrent above is a speed corrected and patched version of the lolive torrent you have listed as having bad file names. Wink

Sorry to give you with so many corrections at once. I don't mean to overload you, I just notice and make them known.

Also, it needs speed correction. The shorter starts nice for example and ends terribly fast, and the info file on the longer says it has some speed fluctuations

cheers

It's really diving head-first into the nittiest of nit-picking, but the folder name for that includes a hyphen between the date and city, and a comma after the city - neither of which is in keeping with the current format of YYYY MM DD CITY STATE-OR-COUNTRY MM.SS SOURCE (NAMES). The filenames themselves are similar - the CM shouldn't be there, and current standards are YYMMDD-city - ## name, rather than YYMMDD - city - . . . (note spaces).

So.... not exactly important, but it still looks very ugly in the ~Zappa~ subdirectory, and the non-complying file names would require extra work for any future "database"-style software Wink

No problem - personally I think I'd rather have 20 corrections at a time than one correction every other day for a month and a half Smile
