Frank Zappa GSW Project Vol. 22 1980 (T-1499)

This is Volume 22 in a very large collection of Frank Zappa spoken word releases. It's called the GSW Project.
GSW stands for Gigantic Spoken Word. There will be some music in there but there won't be any full live concerts in the GSW Project. They consist of radio, TV interviews and journalist reporter type personal interviews. During the radio interviews sometimes music was played as background or added before the broadcast in between questions and answers.

Sometimes FZ acts as D.J., plays records from his collection and talks to the radio audience.
But the main focus of this series is FZ interviews which to me is as interesting as his music.

I removed the blank spaces, and a repeated segment and fixed a few bad edits. I checked and corrected the speed. I checked and eliminated DC offset. I've included an edits removed file. If you burn as audio don't include this file on the audio disc.

I did the editing, mastering (tweaking), analog to digital transfer and artwork for this release. Don't add to, change or remove any of these files. Keep the text, md5 and artwork files unaltered, together with the FLAC's.

Don't rename directories or file names if you share this. My concern is that when people rename them they drop information like date, venue, location, T number. This information is useful to others when searching for or deciding which version of a show they want or already have.

Don't alter the sound of this recording. The T releases are not to be used as a source for anyones so called remastering projects. If you really want to do something find a better quality source recording and work from that. Don't just take the release I've already worked on and screw with it.

For Trade or Give Away Only - Do Not Sell - Do Not Encode As MP3 Virus Files - MD or any other format which degrades the quality of the recording.

I want everyone to remember that all the thanks goes to T____ for putting these together I'm just seeding them.I'm glad you all like them and so is T___ and he says there are more volumes in the works so all we gotta do is wait and we'll have more interesting material than we will know what to do with.

Thanks for these! And yes to Mike too. I'm looking for a particular intervew. I hope T___ has it!
Here's the chronology of performances of NOTA by the Kronos Quartet:

4/8/85 KPFA: rehearsal
4/12/85 San Francisco: world premiere of None Of The Above
4/19/85 Los Angeles
4/28/85 Aarhus

I'm looking for the 4-8-85 piece. part of it was on Dime, the music, but the interview was cut out! Argh! Not a Zappa interview, but talking about A Zappa piece!!
It would be really helpful if someone could compile a list of all volumes. So that when us tape collectors transfer we have something to compare with. To upgrade etc. It would be really helpful to me to have an index of this series. Sure i could spend an hour or three doing it, or i could spend that time prepping other tapes to torrent. Any help on this appreciated.
An index would help me reference if we have something not in this series, or an upgrade to the series. If tape is worse, it would save me a lot of time. It would make transfer more efficient and we would all benefit from it.
OK, I'm going to go check my copies of 10-29-78, samples up a month ago, going as fast as i can...
later...

Thanks to Charles for making me a compilation I can use to compare. Thanks for sharing. Besides T___ and some retired collectors like Obermanns, Hecht, and Aad. I don't know of any other collectors with extensive interview archives. So I look forward to trying to oust some of these interviews with better, or more complete copies. Many of these I do not have, so i will concentrate on interviews not included. To repay the karma, thanks man!

D1t10 is a live version of Andy from fall '80.

The intros include "Vinnie - from Pittsburgh," which makes me think that it's more likely that the taper put an excerpt from 11-13-80 as filler than that this was part of the broadcast from 10-23-80, but I'll check that.
