Ensemble Modern-June 6, 2000
originally seeded on Dad by Franka 2007-09-20 at 18:55:14.

Sound quality is excellent, perhaps an A, although more sensitive ears my differ.

This torrent has undergone a few modifications, and all tracks have been corrected to adhear to Zappateers naming conventions.

I have corrected an audio flaw which was in the original DaD torrent...

Track02 at aprox. :50 had a 1 second drop out. I deleted the dead air. (you would never know it was there).

For those who dislike this fix, and wish to have the error back to correct yourself, I have included a copy of the original track in a folder marked unrepaired track.

It has been brought to my attention 'The Adventures of Greggery Peccary', was performed that evening (thus the mention of it in the original DaD info). It was played between The Black Page No.1 and Peaches En Regalia. An audio version of this may surface in the near future, but for now...

Artwork has been included.

Original DaD info below.

Ensemble Modern plays Frank Zappa
The new tour starts on June 6 in Cologne. After the overwhelming success of The Yellow Shark, this year the Ensemble Modern does another tour with a Frank Zappa program. The composer Ali N. Askin, who already did the arrangements of the Yellow Shark project in collaboration with the composer, is also responsible for the new program Greggery Peccary & Other Persuasions.
The titles refers to the piece "The Adventures of Greggery Peccary", whose arrangement holds original but unpublished parts and voices of Zappa and thus will be a true premiere. Further pieces, among them "The Black Page No 1", "Revised Music for Low Budget Orchestra", "Night School" and "Put a Motor in Yourself", are also amlost completely arrangements from the year 2000. For working on the synclavier pieces like "The Beltway Bandits", Askin collaborated with Zappa's synclavier player Todd Yvega. The conductor is Peter Eotvos, soloists are the vocal artist David Moss and the English baritone Omar Ebrahim. Greggery Peccary & Other Persuasions is a co-production of Ensemble Modern, MusikTriennale Koeln 2000, musica viva/Bayerischer Rundfunk, Holland Festival, Comitato Bologna/Angelica Festival, EXPO 2000 Hannover GmbH, Konzerthaus Berlin/MOM GmbH & Co. Classic Open Air KG, KulturRuhr/Musik im Industrieraum. The Ensemble Modern wants to thank Arabel von Karajan for her generous support.
Greggery Peccary & Other Persuasions arr.: Ali N. Askin; synclavier-transcriptions: Todd Yvega conductor: Peter Eotvos soloists: Omar Ebrahim, David Moss (both voice) sound director: Nobert Ommer

Thanks for sharing here! I'll give some help.
Grabbed this from Dime too.

Great concert from The Ensemble Modern. I've seen them those days at the Holland Festival in the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Very Happy
The Holland Festival was Zappa related that year: The Metropole Orchestra (Big Band) with Bruce Fowler in Paradiso, Ensemble Modern at Concertgebouw and a 200 Motels performance by Band and Orchestra in Amsterdam too!

Somebody out there with decent recordings of those Amsterdam shows?

And let's not forget the "Spilling The Beans" event at De Balie.

It's been a long time since I listened to them, but as I recall, they're all decent. I think the 200 Motels recording (by spelkillen) wouldn't have been really good if it wasn't for some overmodulation. And of course the FM of the Ensemble Modern show is excellent.

I thought I lost that somehow, but just found the CD again.
It's compared to the above, just the first 12 songs, so without GP and without the Encores.

I can put up some samples, unless someone has more songs to offer (?).

From 200 Motels I have a 1st gen but I only have the first half, disc one in 16 tracks...
From Metropole Orchestra a rather bad sounding 1st gen, too bad to put up here.
From Spilling the Beans I've no recording or whatever, haven't been their either.

I have a clone of spelkillen's 200M master, but I'm pretty sure it was recorded on MD, so it probably isn't kosher here. I also have a 1st gen tape from another taper, don't remember what it sounds like.
From the Metropole show, I have one MC and one 1st gen, and I think the 1st gen sounds better.

I was there, and it was very nice - probably the first and last time Bruce Fowler and Corrie van Binsbergen shared the stage. And Corrie's FZ tribute, which she did with a pre-recorded tape was as excellent as you would expect. I have a master clone, I think not that good-sounding.

Corrie's FZ tribute

Yeah, Corrie is great.

Well, I'll put up samples of EM.
And I hope you can put up samples of Metropole and 200M?

My Metropole is really sounding bad, it was recorded in the back of the venue and the music sounds from a far distant (which it actually was); I was thinking of samples a few weeks ago but when I listened to it I decided not to do it.

How's your EM, are there more songs available?
