More likely a total of 517 tapes, with 495 Zappa tapes and the 24 remaining tapes being misc FZ related stuff (Beefheart, Dweezil, Z)

Is it from someone active here ? Or a collection from a renowned trader ?

There is a phone number in the ad. Can someone more local than me give the guy a call and ask if he was the taper, or knows what kind of gen they are.
(the reply to seller button doesn't seem to work?)

That's exactly what it is. Says so quite clearly in the listing.

Even though the title of this thread says 'Albany' the location stated in the article is Binghamton, NY and includes the zip code of 13905. I used to live in Binghamton from 1982 to 1990. I was at the St. Patrick's Day show in 1988. On the wall of my apartment's living room I had a Baby Snakes theater-sized poster which was visible through my second-story front window. From the sidewalk people could clearly see FZ looking at them, his image filled the entire window from the poster's location across the room. The poster was lit by a swag-chain ceiling lamp hung in the corner off to the side of the poster so FZ was visible from outside at night. I ran into some Frank Zappa fans while in Binghamton including a young woman who showed me tickets for the upcoming 1988 Valentine's Day show in Philly that she and her boyfriend were going to. At the time I didn't even know FZ was touring. Soon after that chance encounter the Binghamton show was announced. However, I never met anyone who had anything like the collection claimed in the link. If I recall correctly 13905 was the zip code for the southside of Binghamton, which is where I lived. Binghamton is rather transient with lots of college students and like most places in the USA things have changed dramatically in 30 years so the person may not have lived there while I did. I'd be curious and surprised to know if the collection has anything beyond the Zappateers catalogue.

Sadly, these sales are frequently the outcome of the owner passing, and the seller having little or no knowledge of what they have.

Have any of you in the US ever tried to call the seller?
Maybe you could simply ask about certain or never seen shows.

Phone: 797-1669 or 221-4010 Binghamton, New York

If I lived in the USA I would do it. Wink

Without a foreign parcel or foreign flat rate, I unfortunately
incur too high costs outside the EU.

The seller is not offering to ship it, even within the US. The buyer has to pick it up in Binghamton.

Thanks for this information but I meant my phone flat rate to call him myself. Wink

If someone has an Instagram account, maybe you can reach the seller too.

Plus the pick up only terms is why I haven't offerred to make the call. Plus I fear I'll get a sob story on how the original owners widow really needs the cash right now.

I know at least two Zappateers living in the New York area. If there really is something mega rare for us, one of them could certainly manage it somehow and pick up the stuff.

I would be happy to contribute to the cost if they are improvements on Zappateers versions
