Iíve always liked the idea he was referencing the old critic who somehow got w/ Colette and wrote a lot about many of the composers Zappa was into (he wrote an early classic on Satie): Rollo h Myers. I like your allusion a lot though!

Interesting, thanks.

I wonder why there is a replica of Rollo's statue in Rouen, in Fargo, North Dakota ! Smile

Yes, this!

Like the poster in another thread about Bongo Fury lyrics: I don't care if you give me a signed affidavit in FZ's own hand declaring otherwise -- to me, this song's title will ALWAYS refer to Lamont's friend and player in shady business dealings.

Of course, I'm sure FZ never had the time to watch Sanford & Son. But in my mind, the allusion stands. (Notwithstanding that the lyrics betray my desire for this to be so).

The character of Rollo (portrayed by Nathaniel Taylor) first appeared on Sanford and Son during Season 2, Episode 7 ('Have Gun, Will Sell') on November 3, 1972.

The song was already being performed on tour by this time with the October 29 show in Binghamton, NY being the first known performance, so it's unlikely that there's a connection there.

Oh, I know there isn't.

But it's fun to believe, as a fan of both FZ and S&S.

My money is on the fact that Rollo rhymes with swallow.
