Thanks for posting the Mojo article TPS
Some interesting editing seems to have occurred between the comments Idiot linked to above and the Mojo version.... (Thanks for posting the link to the comments Idiot)

''What he really wanted was confrontation, a good argument in which he could air some of his many prejudices...''
Has become:
''What he really wanted was a confrontational discussion, a good argument in which he could air some of his many theories''

and

''and to compound matters, he had a highly developed loathing for England and all things English. In an effort to get him going, and knowing that smut was one of his favourite preoccupations, I asked him, using specific references, about the crude sexual descriptions that pepper his lyrics – and at that point, he warmed up and mellowed, suddenly became more considered and thoughtful, and from then on, he talked passionately about everything. We somehow got through it okay.''
Has become:
''To compound matters, he had a highly developed loathing for England and all things English. We got through it OK.''

Thanks for that, TPS. Finally found confirmation (having read it somewhere years ago) that FZ had a "warm spot" for President Harry Truman.

And Chrysalis? Spider Barbour's band? I tried listening to that recently...

I suppose that's the legendary Pete Frame who produced rock family trees like this one --

Thanks for the article. I like the way FZ describes politicians.

Frame says FZ draws the line at "cunt" (and Frank seems to agree) but it turns up in 'Honey, Don't You Want A Man Like Me?'.

True, although replaced by "Republican" in the 80's versions.

I think the (non pc) comedic comeback to that is usually "at least cunts are useful".
