I'm intrigued that he finds the Guitar stuff less accessible than the classical stuff. In large part I agree with a lot of the stuff here, but I imagine most people listening to music today trying to get into Zappa would---even if it's technically less "accessible"---be more willing to take the plunge with the weird stuff the early Mothers did than, for example, hang with Flo & Eddie at Fillmore, etc.

I also think One Size Fits All is a perfect album, but I dunno why, I could never bring myself to recommend it as a starter. Something about the lyrics on that album just seem less direct than what FZ normally did, which gives it a really unique quality...I dunno.

These days I mostly tell people who try to get into Frank to just lurk around on youtube and try to find at least one thing that you think is really funny/catchy, then just get the album and follow your interest from there...
