Would love it they would make available as much '66-'69 Mothers as they have. It's clear that there's a bunch in the vault that's never been heard. Numerous bits and pieces have trickled out over the years in a manner clearly designed to drive fans those years mad.

Enough time has been wasted already.

A great idea... I just hope the marquee didn't say "Johnny Rivers"...

I had a listen the other day of the October 30th 1981 show and I have to say, the playing is close to flawless. It doesn't have the extra umpf like November 1st, but the playing is really good. I wouldn't mind to have a box with those shows in the sound quality of the recent releases.

"The band was tight" at those shows. Main issue was second-rate FZ soloing. The November 1 show is a step above the others and I'd certainly listen to a good mix from the multitracks of those shows.

To come back to Achmed's estimate of 700 CD's. 81 shows would create around 170 CD's, as a few shows were over 160 mins, so 3 CD's are necessary. Robsam's idea to do boxes with NYC or Boston is not that great, as those shows were not by far on the level of the shows in May 1988. I think he should create a "3 weeks in Europe 1988" box with shows starting on May 3rd in Rotterdam and end with Stuttgart May 24th. That's 16 shows, alas 32 CD's or 30 GB on a stick in 24-48.

My nose is a'twitchin', something to be announced soon!
Can't wait until October, which I am guessing will be another Halloween-USB-Mask set.

Can we expect more releases in the Road Tapes series ? I have no idea how this news gets disseminated. I am digging all three.

That would include the two shows we're missing (88/05/13 Bilbao and 88/05/23 Strasbourg), which would be great.

I'm not a fan of big boxes, but if they do a 1988 box, I hope they include as much secret wordism and musical quotation as possible. So some good ones would be 88/04/22 Würzburg (Ring Of Fire), 88/05/01 Stockholm (Dragon Master), 88/05/24 Stuttgart (Star Wars), 88/05/25 Mannheim (cornhole), 88/05/26 Fürth (moo), and 88/06/09 Genoa (jellyfish, pizza).

Similarly, a spring/summer 1980 box would ideally contain June quote-fests such as 80/06/11 (early) Paris (She's Not There), 80/06/22 Zürich (Cars), and especially 80/06/30 Vienne (Did You Ever See A Dream Walking?, The Lion Sleeps Tonight). And we've never heard 80/06/13 Clermont-Ferrand, 80/06/15 Rouen, or 80/06/23 Offenburg.

Pretty much just by looking for Internet posts or podcast interviews by Joe Travers (or sometimes by people he knows). As far as I know there could be more Road Tapes, but it doesn't seem to be top priority. I think many fans would like more of it.

The Zappacast is the podcast I had in mind. He has given some long interviews there to plug new releases with some discussion of possible future projects.

Joe's interviews are always great and informative. I wish a lot of the stuff he says had been put in the liner notes of the releases in the first place, though.

cheers
