You may well be right. Does not Roy Estrada say "vato" a few times at the end of WPLJ?

Yes. Four times, according to the transcription on IINK, where it's spelled bato.

I've just checked it out, and apparently both the Spanish Language Dictionary and the Mexican Spanish Dictionary spell it "bato."
