Available for Germany too:

Zapped - Frank Zappa in seinen eigenen Worten ARTE
17. März | ARTE | 21:45 - 22:45 Uhr | Porträt
nhalt

Stereo

Original-Titel: Eat That Question: Frank Zappa in His Own Words
Laufzeit: 60 Minuten
Genre: Porträt, F 2013
Regie: Thorsten Schütte

Any idea why this TV version of "Eat That Question" is only 61 minutes long (compared to the 93-minute theatrical release) ?

Yes, it IS indeed "Eat That Question".

Since the US DVD and the forthcoming EU DVD is in standard definition, you will get the chance to record a HD version -
probably and as usual for Arte also with German and French voiceover.

Although, the picture quality of most of the material is not top-notch - but let's see.

Recorded this in HD quality tonight.

Just a quick review:

Arte is one of the original production company of that film itself - but this special TV version was shortened "amateurish" from originally 90 minutes to 60 minutes. Shocked

For example the importand "Ensemble Modern phase" towards the end of that docu, was completely eliminated! That just doesn't add up! Just to fit to a one hour format?

As usual for these rock documentary on arte (often broadcasts of officially released DVDs/Blu-rays), they added exclusive new subtitles in German and French.

The dedication to Gail, directly at the beginning of the credits were left out - actually this version was assembled with completely new closing titles.

I still need to buy the dvd but the price just won't drop, and no gently used ones for sale either.
I guess Sony didn't flood the market. I'm starting to think one best grab it before it is gone and it will cost twice as much or worse.

ps I saw it in the theater otherwise it would have been purchased the day of release.
