I was thinking more of Malone. But in fact Dumler also plays flute (according to Local 47). And Dumler has apparently expressed the abovementioned sentiment before (see Joe's Garage).

Heard the two releases now. Enjoyed them both a lot and I must say I agree with uncle max about expectations.

I just love the two synclavier pieces on FZFP. Listen how different they sound. On the 1986 piece, FZ's skills on the machine are still in its infancies, but Uncle Sam has so many richer sounds. I find the latter an incredibly impressive work.

Guitar Solo Baz

Yes Bazbo.
President flows effortlessly as a Zappa designed project.
I too find the 2 synclavier tracks more enjoyable than I normally do (my taste, no intention to rate the compositions).
Brown Shoes is intriguing with its subtle differencies from the AF version.
Amnerika is majestic.
I like When the Lie's so Big more than the version in BTHW (I feel it as being more "natural").

Crux is growing on me but it needs to be flipped around for maximum dramatic effect

7-10 (forz-frontiers)
1-4 (proto-side)
6 (live)
5 (story of)

11-15 (optional - imaginary hidden/bonus tracks)

"Ommision impossible" is brilliant. But I disagree with Prentis on 'Apostrophe', which I always loved. Perhaps not a classic FZ instrumental, but nevertheless the right track in the right place at the right time, and for the right reason (i.e. my enjoyment).

I believe FZ For President is the JT/AZ first. It is impressingly well curated. FZ would have been delighted.
More of this, please!

I do recall Gail saying she was opposed to creating posthumous Frank-style edit comps.
I guess if they added little snorks and percussion seques in between one could take offense but I too
am all for loads of President type compilations.

For someone who was "opposed" to it, she has indulged quite a bit there, hasn't she?

I'm not sure what her quote was. For me FZ For President seems conceptually kind of a cross between Congress Shall Make No Law, One Shot Deal and the Birthday Bundles.

I searched youtube.com for the specific Imperial Margarin TV commercial that FZ references on 'The Story of St. Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast'. I found many old Imperial Margarin commercials but not that one. I never knew about this tie to 'Good Morning Your Highness'. If someone else can dig it up please post here. Thanks

This makes me want to veer off into a CC topic I find fascinating.

It takes the form of societal comments; mentioning advertising trends pervading the American Culture at the time, and known brands the FZ is aware of.

I refer to it as -- Product Placement, without compensation.

"Not a spec of cereal" comes from a dog food commercial. (was it Alpo?)

"Frosting a cake with a paper knife", is from a frosting commercial, they don't actually say it rather show a woman doing it.

- Crisco

- Florsheim shoe

- Holiday Inn -- numerous times

- Chicken Delight

I've mentioned before there could be a list delving into these mentions, throughout the catalog.

That commercial series came flooding back into minds eye when FZ spoke of it. Cool little bit there.
